Helping a friend launch a privacy-first AI resume scorer (no login required)

Hi Indie Hackers,

I’ve been helping a client/friend with the rollout of RateMy.cv, and I wanted to share it here because I think the approach is quite "indie" in spirit.

The problem with most ATS and resume checkers today is the high friction—they usually force a full signup and store your personal data before you even see a score.

We wanted to see if we could build a high-utility AI tool that does the opposite.

RateMy.cv is a free application intelligence suite that:

  • Scores resumes, CVs, and LinkedIn profiles against JDs using AI.
  • Requires zero account registration.
  • Stores no user data or documents.
  • Includes role-specific scanners for technical and non-technical roles.

The business model is simple: the core suite is free, with a low-cost ($7) optional human-led rewrite service for those who want to skip the DIY part.

I’m curious to get your thoughts on the "no-login" UX. Does the lack of friction make you more likely to try a tool, or do you prefer having a dashboard to save your history?

Check it out here: https://ratemy.cv/

Nice! A privacy-first AI resume evaluator with no registration required is a smart move — a lot of people are tired of handing over their data to every tool.
I'm building AI Life OS (@ailifeos_official_bot) — 6 AI experts (psychologist, financial advisor, career coach, life coach, business mentor & habit trainer) in one Telegram chat that actually remember your context.
Your tool would be really useful for the career coach inside my bot. How do you handle the accuracy of resume feedback? Do you focus more on ATS compatibility or on overall career storytelling?

    Good luck with the launch!

Love the no-login stance. Agree with Tokyolore above, that's a real differentiator.
Privacy-first in hiring tools is rare and it'll matter more as AI sprawls.

For your friend: when ratemycv gets real traction, they'll run into the inevitable
"is the AI down?" moment. Inference providers go down at the worst possible times,
ask me how I know. I built StatusPageBuddy for exactly that. Free, 60s, no YAML.
Feel free to pass along if they're ever curious.

    Rooting for ratemycv.

I'm aware that this is supposed to be the minimum cost startup, but maybe in the future, I would think that it would benefit a lot from recruiting some people for the job and having a "certified" icon next to CV raters that actually know what they are doing, like recruiters most likely. The general public could just rate it as well, just my opinion!

One thing that often gets missed with a no-login resume scorer is the trust gap around data handling. If people are pasting a resume into it, they usually want to know whether it is stored, how long it hangs around, and what the model is actually judging. A short note on retention plus a plain-English breakdown of the score would probably matter as much as the scoring itself.

The no-login UX is a massive differentiator, Sharanjit. Most resume tools feel like a data trap, so stripping away that friction is a great way to win over privacy-conscious job seekers.
There’s a competition where you can submit this project—entry is $19 and the winner gets a trip to Tokyo.
Prize pool just opened at $0. Your odds are genuinely the best they'll ever be.
$19 entry. Winner gets a real trip to Tokyo — flights and hotel booked by us.
    Round 01 closes at 100 entries. tokyolore.com
