Helping Indie Hackers with Tech
Hi,
I am an experienced dev and have been creating SaaS for more that 4 years now. With my time spent with this community, I realized that a lot of people are stuck with not having a relevant tech person (for both development and consultation) and that is where I intend to give my time in.
I understand that money can be a wall for people who are starting out so I'd recommend you to approach for a call first and then I'll try to help as best as I can.
I am already building products and will be building them. But I am curious to actually understand this problem of tech with Indie Hackers and pretty sure that this will help with it.

not that difficult to understand, a lot of the people here are just looking for free work with a promise as payment. The general idea is that you have something in mind and you do not want to spend money but you think that by putting the magical word "startup" after the name of your idea that you will find people to build it for you free of charge and you will pay them "generously" with shares (some even go even furder and offer under 50% thinking that half of nothing is too much )
Unfortunately, there is a very small % of the people here that understand how to validate an idea or even what it actually takes to convert it into a business, the focus is on the amount of money the thing (if built) may be sold to someone (more often, the funding they can get from a VC, like that will somehow magically solve all problems)
I hope you can find the 1% that actually can make something if you help them, just don't get your hopes up :)
I'm currently building two web apps. I'm the business owner, UI / UX designer, marketer, etc. but not a developer. Hardest part for me was finding a reliable (does good work and communicates). This was especially difficult finding local talent. After going through 25+ interviews I "think" I found a junior developer and an experienced one.
I'd like to talk to both of you if you have time and see if I'm missing something or something I can do to find qualified help outside of marketplaces.
Finding good developers is difficult and usually expensive even for people that know exactly what is a good developer.
The good news is, you will need to find only 1, after you find them, they can help you with finding more.
Best suggestion, just to post a job offer on whatever is the popular job portal in your city/country and don't look for juniors, find someone you like and work with them for a few weeks, if this are moving in the right direction talk to them about finding more people (juniors) or post adverts again but ask that person to help you go true the CV's.
Good to know. Can you expand on the job portal? Besides Meetup and some groups on Discord / Slack, I haven't found any job portals within my area (we're in Southwest Florida).
Unless you are in a city with +1M people there is a small chance that there will be a local job portal, so you need to go popular in your state (if you are US) or country
Discord / Slack are terrible places to look for someone, you are looking for someone actively interested in job offers not wasting time on the internet.
try Linkedin if you can't find a popular job portal.
Ask the people around you for recommendations, they may not know a developer that looks for a job but that developer can give you advice on where the company they work for finds people
I know people, have been in the game long enough for that. But I appreciate your rant haha.... I am sure it comes from a place of experience.
