I've been trying to make a platform for software recruitment, and just completed the landing page for a new iteration. I've gone through various solutions to this problem and I wanted to put down a few thoughts on how I arrived here:
- About 2 years ago, I always got asked by non-technical friends who are also founders if I knew any engineers. And when I didn't, I would get some request for help with hiring engineers - basically, can I interview some candidates for them? I was happy to do this to help them out, without really expecting any payment
- About 2 years ago, this lead me to the idea of crowdsourcing recruitment - i.e., have a community of software engineers take part in the recruitment process for companies. I think the benefits are pretty obvious here and I got some strong interest from employers when I shopped it around. But I couldn't get traction from engineers. At the time, I pivoted to another problem entirely.
- I started back on this problem because like other technical founders and indie hackers, I occasionally think about finding new work and arrive back at how frustrating the recruitment experience is. I still get the occasional request to help out a founder friend with a technical interview and still do it for free
- I have tried to iterate other solutions to the technical recruitment problem but always think back to the one I present in this landing page
- In a way, this is a resumption of where I was back then, but with the hope that I will be able to iterate to find a pitch for engineers this time, and get some traction
If you are a startup founder looking for engineers, let me know if this appeals to you, and especially if the pricing appeals to you.
If you are a software engineer, let me know about the "practice interviewing" pitch. (I didn't know back then but I admit that I've since realized that interviewing.io exists and that this is the same pitch - whether you believe it or not, I arrived here independently but probably through a slightly different thought process).
