Here I go

Well, it's been two weeks and my SIXTH developer still hasn't sent me a proposal on migrating from Okta to a 0Auth account. The latest AI iterations have nicely laid out plans, so am gonna start to try to at least fix my PROD deployment.

I swear, "back in the day" you had to buy 8-10 books of 1,000 pages apiece to learn a new programming language because there were ALWAYS syntactical errors, so you needed to compare version. Plus, the changes could be monumental between versions, so just to keep up you needed another book or two. Not to mention that corporate would only allow certain languages or programs to be used or you could be fired.

The internet changed all that. I remember being able to access the Oracle 8.0 documentation online and whoo-pee!! I didn't need another book on my bookshelf. I had an engineering co-worker who actually crushed his bookshelves with overload so that's how really "heavy" (get it? 'heavy' instead of 'big'?) a deal this kind of thing is.

Still, learning a new software language is tedious and time-consuming. I went from 0 - Perl program developed (which lasted 10+ years on coworkers machines!) in five weeks, but those five weeks were concentrated work. In one big respect, I just don't have that in me anymore, I'm looking to hire. BUT... what I've found is that because I'm so used to working with data, functions, algorithms, whatever... the complexity of what I expect to be built and what people are used to building, is - well, lacking. This is a primary reason why development of my app in the first place took 3x as long for the first iteration.

In any event, here I go. And if anyone has a build platform they like, let me know. I'm hoping to keep my current codebase at the moment and just fix the authentication problem and learn a bit as I go. There's one monster algorithm I REALLY don't want to replace because, well, the logic is just nasty ugly. I think I calculated at one time something like 1.X million use cases. Yeah, that kind of ugly uck. It exists right now and it works. Replacing it has defeated multiple developers. No joke.
