Hey founders, genuine question: how do you find your first users?

I’m curious how other indie hackers are doing this right now.

Do you:

  • post in communities

  • scrape Reddit or X

  • run outbound

  • use ads

  • wait for people to come to you

I’ve been thinking a lot about how much faster it is when you can find people already talking about the problem you solve.

That’s the whole idea behind PainBase. It helps you spot real pain points and high-intent users from startup communities, so you’re not guessing where demand is hiding.

I’m asking to improve the lead generation feature on PainBase, which is now finding warm leads on Reddit, Indie Hackers, Hacker News, Devto, and Lobsters.

Would love to hear your method. What’s actually worked best for you?
