In my opinion, the best ideas often come from the problems you face in your own life or the challenges your peers encounter. This ensures that you are well aware of the exact pain points and potential solutions for these problems, while also providing a way to validate your market and get to know your potential users quickly.
Additionally, for generating ideas, it's important to stay consistent and not just wait for an "AHA!" moment. Being conscious and thinking about your own problems or possible issues in your industry or life in general is a helpful approach. I hope this is helpful!
One idea came from my co-founder, another idea came out of a need I had for myself.
My current project’s idea came from observing the market, mostly on Twitter. It’s a tool directory (I know, there’s a bunch) that I decided to build over a weekend while sick.
Ended up gaining traction, so now I’m rolling with it lol.
Basically my ideas kind of just came up from everyday life and observations. I’ve never had luck trying to sit down and discover an idea.
Most of our ideas came from problems we faced while building another tool/product. Ex. finding leads for one product was really hard, so we worked on a niche lead gen tool for our next product. I'd say look at what problems you're faced with in your current business / job and see if there's a market for a better solution that you could build.
I feel like the best ideas come from all kinds of sources. Something that helps me is if you share your ideas with people you love. If you share it with 3-5 people (especially if they don't know a lot about the space), you will find yourself hearing feedback/ideas that maybe you wouldn't have heard if you were talking to a person in the same space as you.
Since this post is about finding ideas, I am plugging in Micro SaaS Ideas here.
Well my idea is just based off existing competitors and the main goal is just to make cheaper and better!
hi,
so here's the story, i started in early 2023 when I was creating content on Instagram and experienced rapid growth. I shared my experiences as a software engineer, and soon, students were asking for the learning resource links I used, and i went ahead to look for
tool like a chrome extension that would help me collect and share links with my audience, and then i thought why not build one myself, so i built Linkcollect :)
Like many other comments, it came out of a need I had myself. I kept missing important emails and had trouble juggling multiple inboxes, so I made a tool to help me stay on top of it.
I'm not sure that the best ideas per se come from problems you personally have, but you'll most likely be a lot more informed and passionate about fixing your own problems as opposed to those of others
That's exactly right with me, I'm working on the idea that's to find solution for what's still my problem today.
For all my life on the internet, I needed a tool/bot that would automate my boring repetitive work. So at one point after a decade of working manually, I decided to build Automatio.co, a no-code web automation tool.
Combination of stuff.
The first is I use reddit to go around and see where the best opportunity is. Something that people care about and then want to talk about and try to see what I can do to be in the middle of the conversation.
And then I will analyze google trend and keywords using the idea from the reddit. Usually I use my own tool creativeblogtopic.com which I made so it can automate seo research to make the whole find idea process faster.
From the analysis I will write a blog and reddit posts to get see if there is a response and what people think about it. If got a good response than I will make an mvp.
From that I will iterate the mvp to match the customer need.
Hackathon. Met my co founder at a hackathon for a Industry I was not even part of.
I am a techie and I normally attend tech conferences. After the AI boom I got interested in its application in the field of Education. I signed myself up for a hackathon in Education to work along with teachers and understand their problems. Met my co founder there and realised the core problem we cared about was not related to education. We bonded on the problem of comparing multiple AI models and getting rapid feedback from users for AI models.
We are still discussing (arguing 😉) daily about what idea to focus our energy on and it keeps on changing as we keep tinkering. 🔨
my idea for the current thing I'm working on came from the fact that I had to test many ideas (since I don't have a good idea yet) and therefore need to make many landing pages. So I scrapped together a way to quickly make nicer landing pages than anything out there lol
What's the fastest way to deploy landing pages? This' a problem me and many others struggle with.
I had a health problem what could be solved with an app, but the best solution out there was far away from my expectations. That's why I've decided to build something on my own, and it turned out as a success!
Figuring out the market gaps. I can see things that others don't see due to my domain expertise.
I'm reading Expert Secrets by Russel Brunson and he says : focusing on creating a "Blue Ocean." Find what's missing from your competitors' offerings and seize that opportunity. Stand out by addressing unmet needs and offering a unique value proposition.
A simple strategy that I like to use:
