Hey IH, what is the one feature that you built but never released? And why?

Hey Indiehackers,

We all have some features in our products where we spent time productizing and developing them but they never got released. Let's discuss the features you never got a chance to discuss!

Let's try to follow this format:

  1. Product brief (and link)
  2. Feature
  3. Reason for scrapping it

I'll start with an example:

  1. Product : Plenary - An RSS feed reader and offline article downloader app for Android - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.spians.plenary

  2. Feature : Plenary has an in app browser to view RSS feed articles. We built a feature as part of our premium offering that would give an ad blocking option to users. When enabled, Plenary would block all ads and third party trackers in the in app browser.

  3. Reason : This is a tempting feature for the end user (and therefore for us to build). But a lot of RSS feed providers depend on the revenue they generate from the ads and page hits they receive on their webpage. Enabling this feature would hurt their business model. This works both ways because if the feed provider isn't dependent on the ad revenue, they might as well give full article content in their RSS feed. Like many official developer help centers or product announcement blogs do. Plenary can show this content and the app user doesn't need to open the in app browser.

What are some features for your product which never saw the light of the day? Let me know in the comments.

Product: https://versoly.com/ - A website builder focused on conversions and flexibility while still being easy to use

    Feature: Template marketplace

Reason: No designers wanted to take any risk, contacted a bunch but they all seemed happy competing on themeforest etc vs 10,000s of other folks.
