Hey IndieHackers!
Last month, I quit my job to launch an LLM ops startup full-time. It's been a mix of loneliness and freedom. Working solo can be isolating, but it's also liberating to build something from scratch.
The pressure is real. Every decision feels crucial, and as launch day approaches, I keep second-guessing myself. But despite the challenges, I'm more motivated than ever.
This community has been a great source of inspiration, and I can't wait to share more and learn from all of you.
Having said all that, I expect to be launching in the next week or so. Can't wait!
Cheers,
Ryan
Have you done any validation so far? Do you know people interested in your product?
Great question Hery
Yes, I have validated in three ways:
That sounds great, best of luck!
Congrats!
I quit a year ago. Take it one day at a time and try to take a step forward every day.
For a while, it felt like quitting was the goal. I quickly realized that was just the starting point and I had a lot to learn after. Building with a full-time job gives you a sense of security and a safety net that you lose once your side hustle becomes your primary income, but you can and will figure things out.
Even with some of the stumbles I've had this year, I wouldn't trade it for going back to my old job.
Good luck!
Also, funny enough, I'm a ex-HubSpotter as well :)
No way! Small world, that's awesome. I was there 2016 to 2022 and worked in CX and Product, not sure if we crossed paths but happy to connect any time.
Thanks for the encouraging words. I agree, I wouldn't trade this for anything right now.
Way to go Ryan! I quit 2 months ago myself from my 9-5 job to start my productized-service business. Will never look back.
Can't wait for the update!
Hi Ryan,
Inspiring. It's definitely learning starting out, but the rewards quickly out-weigh the benefits. Even right now, you'll be moving WAY faster than you would with a co-founder.
I'd love to get you on my podcast to talk about your journey into solopreneurship if you'd be interested? Could be a good way to get some early users
Thanks @henrylatham
Sure, I'm pretty busy, but I could probably make some time for an episode. What's your podcast called?
Awesome. Podcast:
Free Founders, where I share actionable lessons from the world's best solopreneurs & small business owners. This is for aspiring entrepreneurs who want proven strategies to go from zero → 1st sale → scale (& unlock financial freedom & freedom of time in the process)
Send me your email and I can send more details 💪
A huge step, man! I'd have a huge list of target to hit financially before I could ever try that
I've always focused on getting to my "Freedom Number" i.e. the minimum amount I would need to cover my costs. Usually it's way lower than you think. It was €1.5k when I was living in Portugal as a single, 23-year old. The average I find with clients is €3-4k
Congrats, wish you the best.
That's how it starts! At the very least, you'll gain invaluable experience. Good luck!
