Hi Indie Hackers! Ricardo here, the solo maker of Cooltivo.

Cooltivo started with a pattern I kept living: I could keep a Duolingo streak alive for a year, but the gym never survived three weeks. Eventually I noticed the difference was the software. Duolingo and Finch are built to bring you back every day, but they can't coach a squat. Strong and Hevy can coach the squat, but they feel like spreadsheets, so I'd quit. I ended up leaving my healthtech job to build the overlap.

If you've ever kept a 300-day streak in a habit app while your gym membership gathered dust, Cooltivo was built for you.

What's live today:

- Habitants, AI companions from a forest that runs on connection. Tōllin, an ancient tree inspired by the Tree of Tule in México, chats with you and builds a program around your body, schedule, injuries, and equipment.
- Complete your first 3 workouts and the forest assigns you a habitant of your own: a plant or mushroom matched to your personality. Companions here are earned, and from then on yours grows with you.
- Your habitant physically transforms based on whether you show up. Train consistently and it gets leaner, stronger, eventually legendary. Skip a month and it softens back down. It mirrors your habit, never your body.
- The forest is cute; the training underneath is serious: 900+ exercises with video from real trainers, programs that add weight and reps for you so progression happens without a spreadsheet, and a session screen simple enough to use between sets.

Where it's growing next: habitants are becoming semi-autonomous. They'll earn seeds every time you work out and spend them on their own gear, like running shoes, water bottles, and sunglasses. You train, they live. This part is still in the works, so I'd genuinely love ideas on what would make them feel alive.

What should the habitants save up for first?

I like the concept of combining habit building with AI companions instead of another traditional fitness tracker. It feels like you're trying to make consistency engaging rather than relying on reminders alone.

I specialize in independent product validation for early-stage SaaS. My work combines first-time user testing, structured UX research, and professional talking-head walkthrough videos that founders use to uncover friction and create authentic launch content.

Cooltivo looks like the kind of product where onboarding and first impressions will have a big impact on retention. If you're looking for an independent validation and walkthrough before scaling, I think this would be a good fit for the type of work I do.

The interesting opportunity isn't gamifying fitness—it's making consistency feel like caring for something that grows alongside you. I'd keep validating whether people return to Cooltivo because the workouts are effective or because the relationship with their habitant makes showing up emotionally rewarding. That's a much more durable advantage.
