Hey IH,
I'm Jerald. For the last ~18 months I've been deep in the weeds building HighLowTicker, a terminal app that surfaces every single symbol printing a new intraday high or low in real time, with running counts, rate bars (20m/5m/1m/30s), regime detection, z-scores, momentum, and a clean scrolling tape.
Most platforms give you price alerts or heatmaps, but nothing shows you the actual flow of new highs and lows across hundreds/thousands of symbols in one glance. Day traders, swing traders, and market-makers live and die by order flow and rotation. I wanted something fast, keyboard-driven, and always-on that doesn't cost $50–200/month like the big platforms.
Rust + Ratatui TUI (blazing fast, ~8–9 MB binary)
Supports Schwab, Tastytrade, Tradier, IBKR, Alpaca, Polygon, etc. + Coinbase for crypto
Trial = Yahoo + Coinbase (3 days, no card)
Pro = $199 one-time → unlocks everything + custom ticker lists (up to 6k symbols)
Two-machine license, 48h offline grace, perpetual key
Auto-setup wizard, clean installers (DMG + Windows EXE)
No subscriptions. Ever. "Pay once. Own it forever." is the motto.
Live site: https://highlowtick.com
Started with Python + Schwab
Rewrote in Rust for performance and distribution sanity
Built my own licensing + Stripe/Whop + Netlify backend
Shipped proper macOS .app bundle + Windows installer
Went through the painful but necessary provider drama (Schwab OAuth, Tastytrade reconnects, Tradier handshakes, Windows install issues etc.)
Very early days, first real marketing push starts this week. A handful of sales from small trader communities. Goal is to reach $5k–10k in one-time revenue quickly and turn this into a sustainable solo business.
How do you market a one-time purchase developer tool in 2026? (Especially to traders who are notoriously skeptical)
Any brutal feedback on the landing page or positioning?
Would you pay $199 for this if you day/swing trade?
Happy to answer any questions and share the tech decisions, packaging scripts, licensing flow, etc.
Thanks for reading, and I am rooting for all of you building in public.
