Hello, I have created a FB campaign to promote my chrome extension:
http://masterlang.webflow.io
I have created a set of 2 creatives + 2 audiences with a budget of about 10€/day.
The campaign has been running for about three days now, I have around 100 clicks but no download of the extension.
Have you got any hint on what I might be doing wrong?
As @shiva_prabhakaran notes, your ad targeting has a big impact on the success of any campaign. And the messaging on the landing page should match what's on the ads to take the prospect seamlessly through the process. Without seeing those ads, we can only offer advice on a part of the big picture.
That being said, here are some things to consider:
Start with the audience. There are several ways you can position this, but the best appeal will vary based on the motivations and and experience of the audience.
Are they people who are actively seeking to learn a new language? Then you'll want to include more about the outcome. How long will it take? Are their formal lessens Etc.
Maybe you're targeted people who have tried to learn another language before but have struggled with the traditional approach? In this case you'd want to spin it as an easy and fun alternative.
I would consider some alternatives to "Expand your vocabulary and learn new expressions while enjoying your favourite shows." To me, that sounds more like expanding on something you already have basics in. If that's the case, then you'll want to reflect that in the headline.
I like the idea of showing how it works, but I'm not sure the video does that real well. I would consider adding more context and calling out key functions, maybe with a voiceover.
I think there's a bit of a disconnect with your CTA and the flow of action. With try it free I expect to maybe go to a sign up form or my Netflix login. You're kind of skipping some steps. Make it clear what it is you want them to do: get the Chrome Extension.
Best of luck. It's a cool idea.
Hello @SeanKirby,
thanks for your feedback.
I agree that the CTA should make it explicit that you are about to download a Chrome extension. I will adjust it accordingly.
You can find additional details on my campaign as a response to @shiva_prabhakaran.
Congrats @walbell
Can you share more details about the campaign objective? If you want to push download conversion aspects, you might need to create a bottom-funnel ad and make sure everything is trackable. I can see you're using free webflow site, maybe good time to start premium?
I also tried instagram story ad for 3 days at USD 10/day and acquired ~50 download for a free downloadable content on my side project, you might want to give a try on the different display network.
Sure,
my objective is to get more subscribers.
At the moment I track:
I am a bit reluctant on using Instagram since the extension would require you to be on a desktop device in order to install it.
Thanks for sharing your experience :)
Cool idea! I like the concept and your website.
I'd recommend the following:
Remove the big blue "Masterlang" hero text. You could add it to the top left menu bar (to the right of your logo) instead. Replace it with "Learn a new language by watching Netflix". You'd need to reduce the text size a bit.
Remove the "Learn new languages on Netflix" subheader. You don't need three levels of text.
Remove "A chrome extension to consistently expand your vocabulary and master the language expressions." and replace it with "Expand your vocabulary and learn new expressions while enjoying your favourite shows".
Change "Start Now the Free Trial" button to "Try for Free".
In addition to the above, I think that your marketing channel may not be ideal. Many people watch Netflix on a TV or via the Netflix app on mobile. You'd be getting clicks from those, but they won't be able to use it.
Instead, I'd ditch the Facebook ads and just reach out to language schools directly. Tell them the usual price is X, but with this coupon their students can get it for 50% off.
Hope this helps!
Thank you @kareldb !
This is really helpful :)
I have just modified the page according to your suggestions.
The ads are targeted to desktop only devices but I definitely understand your point.
The idea of going after language schools is quite interesting. What's the acquisition channel you would use?
Looks good!
One thing: as the text size of the heading increases, the line height needs to decrease a bit :-)
So I would change the blue heading (CSS class .heading-3) to this:
font-size: 5.2vh;
line-height: 1.2;
Regarding user acquisition: do you currently have some users and you are looking to expand? Or are you looking for your first 10-50 users?
I have modified the heading according to your suggestions :)
I have a small user base of < 100 users, a few of them have switched to the premium subscription.
Because of the lockdown due to Covid-19 I believe it could be a good time to engage with people at home.
My objective is to get 20 users to move to the premium subscription by the end of April.

Hello @shiva_prabhakaran,
In terms of audience I am targeting people having these interests combined ("People who match and also match"):
Geographically I have 2 ad sets one for EU and one for US. The one in EU is outperforming the US.
As for the creatives:
I think you have a bit of a message mismatch between the ads and the landing page. The ads give me the impression that the offer is for some sort of e-language learning show on Netflix.
And for the single video ad your CTA is to download on the Chrome Store, so I would expect to be led to the Chrome Store rather than a landing page.

Thanks!
I have just created an ad set with the audience you suggested.
I will keep you posted on the results ;)
May I ask you why you would put "Rosetta Stone" as an additional targeting criteria rather than within "Duolingo and Memrise"?
