Hiring: Android Developer & Project Owner for Yik Yak

Yik Yak is all about local community. At Yik Yak, we make fun ways to connect with people within 5 miles of your location. When you think local, you think Yik Yak - that's our goal. We aim to be the world's dominant mode of local communication.

Our small team is made of entrepreneurs and self-starters. We're looking for a team member to come alongside us and lead our Android development. You'll be the primary builder of the Android version of Yik Yak.

For context, Yik Yak is currently only available on iOS.

📍 Location: Remote (or Nashville, TN)

🔨 What you’ll do:
• Develop our Android app from the ground up
• Develop fun features for Android that help people interact with the people around them in new ways
• Once released, improve our Android app on a daily basis - we want to release updates at warp speed
• Be involved in high-level technical decision making
• Work closely with our product/design team to realize short and long term feature goals
• Be an early leader inside Yik Yak's development organization

👋 Minimum Qualifications:
• Strong affinity for Yik Yak and local community
• 3+ years of experience in developing Android apps in Kotlin/Java
• Problem-solving mindset
• Self-starting work ethic - ability to make important decisions on your own, on the fly
• Exposure to scale in an engineering/development environment
• Drive to deliver the best Android experience imaginable

🚀 Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform & Firebase
• Experience designing, building, and releasing your own app
• Desire/ability to contribute to product design discussions
