Hiring Freelancer vs An Agency

You have read about this topic many times but while starting a new startup or new project, you always ask what should I do-

Do I hire freelancers or outsource complete projects to agencies?

So here I am, sharing my experience. I have outsourced my project to other IT services companies and also work with 20+ freelancers and also worked as freelancers.

You can basically choose your decision based on the following basis-

Budgeting- Hiring freelancers directly is the less expensive alternative of the two, as there are no hidden surcharges. No middlemen in the route provide for a cheaper transaction.

Project Management- When I assign my project to a reputable agency, there’s very little left for me to do as the organization is well equipped to handle every aspect of the said work. But that is not the case with freelancers.

Skill Diversity- Both your options offer a sufficient amount of skill diversity, but of a different kind. Whenever I go for an agency, I cannot micromanage every single individual's work on your project but with the freelancers, I can do so.

Accountability- The primary reason due to which I hire an agency is because of the accountability it offers. This is lacking when you talk of individual freelancers. If the person falls sick or worse, meets an accident, there is no backup available. It happens many a time.

Post Production Bugs- Whenever I have little time for the project and don’t want to put the effort of chasing freelancers for iterations in their work the digital agency route is the one to go for.

Scalability- Being a startup means irregular workflows and seasonal outbursts of work. Hence scalability is also a factor to consider while making hiring choices.
