Hit the Product Home Page & feat. in Morning Brew this week… now what? (Our launch story)

Last Friday, we launched Learn Stash on Product Hunt in the wee hours of the morning. After a few hours of sleep, we woke up with about 20 upvotes. We were genuinely happy and surprised by that.

We ended up spending most the day between #4-10, was tweeted out by PH, and also featured in their newsletter. All of it big, unexpected wins. This resulted in 1,198 page views compared to our typical average of 85 page views per day. We also gained 121 newsletter subscribers over the weekend.

THEN… on Monday, we were featured in Morning Brew’s Sidekick newsletter. We didn’t know what to expect, but when their email went out at 4PM we had a flood of visits and email subscribers over the next several hours. When it was all said and done Morning Brew resulted in 7,464 page views and 417 new subscribers.

Our launch week far exceeded our expectations because we didn’t have a huge built-in audience or following to make a splash at the start. Now, with over 800 email subscribers and a couple of pieces of publicity under our belt, we plan to double down on Twitter, article writing/SEO, and our newsletter.

We know the adrenaline from this splash will die down eventually, so would love your advice on moving forward and building upon momentum like this. What would you do? Where would your focus be?

P.S. If you have any questions about Learn Stash or our launch week, we’ll be glad to answer!

One thing that has worked for me is reengagement mailers. It does wonders trust me!

I did the same for my product ruttl.com as well. Even though I got over 1500 waitlisted users, I sent them blog mails and updates to keep them in the loop and to ensure the touchpoint with the brand is active.

You can find some great emailer templates on ReallyGoodEmails's website.

    Hope that helps you @tspeeg!

Gotcha, that makes sense. Thanks for the advice!

Did LearnStash face any slow/downtime during this period?

    How did you handle it?

The afternoon of the Morning Brew
feature we experienced a minor issue where the overload of email sign ups caused our email servers to go down for a bit. We handled it by reaching out to awesome partners at WPMU DEV and they responded within a minute and helped point us to the right direction :)
