Hold no punches on this mental health landing page

It's nice and interesting to make me read more after the first glance. I get the problem. But I don't really get the solution even after more reading. What is the Wuju app? How does it work? First I thought it works by recording your face, but this was just documenting the effects of Wuju. I would not try anything without knowing a bit more about the solution.
I added a video of me using the app here http://wujuapp.com/emotions/#action. Does this help clarify what the app is?
Yes, if I watch it I get the basic idea of an interactive dialog. Most people don't watch videos though. So consider if you want some part of your landing page to explain the solution without a video. If I am really interested then I spend 4 min on the video.
Search for "Should I include a video?"

My sub 10 second gut response was "this is sweet" i'm even going to forward it to my friend who runs talkaboutdepression.org
Thanks, it would be great to connect with him! I found that site a little too clinical for my personal taste, treating depression as a "condition" as opposed to a very human and personal experience. But I've been profoundly disillusioned with the mainstream approaches to dealing with it, so I'm pretty biased.
I think this landing page looks pretty terrific. The only minor piece of feedback I have for you is that the button that says "learn more" vs. the button that says "get wuju" feel like they should be the other way round in terms of colours? What's the primary CTA? ALso the "get wuju" text is pretty difficult to discern at that smaller size. Maybe that's just me.
But yeah, great landing page - aesthetically pleasing, good tone of voice throughout. Perhaps increase the line-height of the body text on larger bodies of text as it feels a bit cramped (i.e 'At peace with emotions' section)
I'm a big fan of new projects that handhold their early users. Feels exclusive and enticing.
Thanks, that's awesome. I increased the line height, it does look cleaner this way.
It's a good point about the primary CTA - it's actually scheduling an intro session with me. I realize I haven't done a very good job of nudging people towards that - I'll need to give it some more thought. The buttons are actually are remnant of the template I used for the landing page and I'm not sure any buttons make sense.

I think this looks a lot better, capitalised text in the buttons helped on the readability front a tonne!
Hi @elifiner I like your idea of improving mental health and releasing emotions. Something we definitely need especially in this current epidemic.
I liked that I got to know a little about some of the things you've gone through and what you've done to overcome them. Also the length of content didn't bug me. It was interesting to read for me.
There's three things that stuck out to me that I would say were a problem for me:
I would immediately mention what it is at the top, and add some benefits to using it. Then if the visitor wants to find out more they can click on one of the buttons or scroll down and learn the details.
The page doesn't say in detail what exactly the Wuju app does. I see that it helps me release emotions, but how? What features does your app have that will help me?
I see that part of the benefits of paying the monthly fee is unlimited coaching sessions with you. However as someone who doesn't know you, I would first like to know you and what experience you have coaching before I'm willing to trust that you can help.
One way to help with this is possibly adding a section on your site with some "social proof". Maybe some testimonials of real people you have coached. Or maybe blog content you have written, or YouTube videos, etc...
Something that helps us get to know who you are and gain trust.
Hope this helps!
This is very helpful, thanks. I didn't explain what Wuju does on purpose, because there's a bit of a catch 22 here. I've been walking people through the app for the last couple of months and there's a clear pattern - the less I talk about what it does and the more they actually go through it with me guiding them as their first experience, the more effective it is. I've had zero success with sending the link to the app to people and about 9/10 people experienced immediate relief with me on the call.
The only way I found that was even marginally effective was showing a video of me going through the process (which is where my face shots are taken from). This is the video: https://media.wuju.app/wuju-release-anger.mp4, do you think it would be helpful to include in?
The goal of the page is to get people to schedule a call with me, not to download the app, because that just doesn't work. I'm worried that people watching the video would say, "Oh, I get it," understand it intellectually and never give themselves the chance to actually experience it.
Your point about social proof is very compelling and I'll dive into that. It shouldn't be too hard for me to create a bunch of content about emotional well being. I was hoping to postpone that until later, but maybe I need to dig in right away. I was hoping to build trust with my copy, but that might not be enough.
Thanks so much for taking the time to look through this!
Hi Eli,
Two things stood out to me initially. I tend to think those are the best to give when people are asking for feedback.
My first thing is the font. In your main header block, "Sometimes Life is.." I feel like the font doesn't match the tone of your content. Did you add extra spacing between the letters? I thought it was your personal website.
The second thing I thought, I didn't expect this to be something I would have to pay for. I think again, it kind of goes back to the first feeling I had. I was actually thinking there would be some kind of self-assessment tool. Maybe it was also because of your story.
Side note- there is also the back of someone's head at the bottom of that section.
What I thought was great, were your pictures in WUJU in Action, even the emojis, I thought really added a human and personal touch to the site. I think as a free service or even community, this could be super helpful.
To be honest, I would pay $29 dollars if you had some Professional credentials in this area.
Serious question: Do you think there is any legal liability you may have for doing this? (eg confidentiality, someone who wants to hurt themselves).
I wish you the best of luck, no hard feelings I hope, and remember this is just one stranger's opinion. It takes a lot of courage to launch something on your own and show it to the world.
Tony
Wow, never saw that thing about the font coming, thanks! Looks like the whole design of the top part of the page needs a revamp, including the font. You're the second person that mentioned this looks like a personal page, which might not be what I'm going for. The photo is of a woman standing in front of a huge waterfall and I found it very compelling https://unsplash.com/photos/fH8RH4VXxuI), but I think it doesn't come across if you don't see the whole thing at once.
I'm a practicing life coach with about 10 years of experience. Would you consider this to be enough professional credentials or are you looking for something more along the lines of MSW or PHD?
I'm willing to take the risk with liability on this as I've always had with my coaching practice. There's not protection in the law for coaches, but there's still something really useful I can offer and I don't want to go to school for 8 more years just to do this.
Thanks so much for your comments and kind words!

Can I get your take on another version of this? This one is just for anger. The photo is different and the copy is different, but I'm not sure if it makes the top of the page any better. What do you think?

Oh your tweaks make it so much better, thanks! I'll apply them.
I would love to chat! There's definitely enough room for many services in mental health and I definitely think a community approach has a lot of value. I tried to start a community oriented thing about 8 years ago and it didn't work out, but that was mostly because I ran out of steam. There's a lot of value there.
So the top sucks, fair enough. Any examples of what you think is an awesome above the fold design? The vagueness and lack of USP is on purpose, I just want to create enough curiosity for people to scroll down and give away as little as possible at first. But I could say something that this is a combination of a technique, an app and coaching, to at least give a hint.
As for qualifications, I've been a practicing life coach for about 10 years, but that qualification is mostly meaningless (especially since I don't have International Coaching Federation creds). It's not useful for legal liability (which is a risk I'm willing to take), but it might help people feel safe.
We have a lot to chat about! Do you want to find a time that works for you on my calendar? It's at https://calendly.com/elifiner/video-call.

As far as I can tell there are quite a few people who would only go for proven and evidence based techniques, but they can't be my audience anyway until I get Wuju into a PHD program for some proper study (which I definitely intend to do). I'll add my coaching experience in there to give my claims a little context!

How so? Tell me more. Weren't you bored watching it?

That is profoundly useful, thanks. Alright, I'm putting that video up on that page. A couple more tweaks and I think I'm going to be ready to drive some traffic to it.
