Whenever I want to do something for myself, I often give up way before I make any progress. The solution is my current side project, which is an accountability app. This accountability app will pair you up with random people to hold each other accountable to reach your long term goals (be it running a marathon, pushing out lots of blogs, or finally learning a new language).
I was hoping to get it working with the following benefits
What do you think about this idea? I think in purpose definitely overlaps with indiehackers, but with more of a focus on getting stuff done.
Anyways, I'd love to hear your thoughts and feedback. Thanks!
There are a handful of apps/services in this space (Indiehackers being one), so I expect that there is a market there. The big problem all of these services seem to run into is getting people to contribute in a valuable way. It would be a real bummer to get paired with people who don't provide a high level of feedback, or people who are totally uninterested in the space you're building for, etc. I think differentiating there, and making that your value add, would be a key to pulling this off successfully.
Thanks for giving some interesting food for thought. The service would indeed work or fail based on the behaviour of the people it attracts, hence figuring out what can be done to nudge people to cooperate, or group them together according to interests, looks like an interesting challenge. I'm probably still missing some other options. :)
I'm not sure if two strangers can motivate each other, especially that they would both sign up for the service because they have trouble sticking to their goals. Perhaps connecting people with professional coaches or setting up a smart reward system would be more effective.
I really like the smart reward system idea. I haven't got a clue yet on how to implement it though. :)
