Holding it all together when self-doubt creeps in

I'm sure most of us have been there.

One day you are all energetic producing content / code full on and then
One day you are suddenly not so sure about what you are doing and are very doubtful if you are on the right path. One day extends to a few more.

This seems to happen more often when you don't have direct measurable results or well defined outcomes of what you are working on.

How do you cope with this? What is your strategy?

I would say it's important to reframe this not as some kind of valid signal that what you're doing is wrongheaded but as the "enemy" to put it crudely. Most products, startups, creative endeavours, athletic pursuits -- anything anyone tries to do -- end because their main driver gives over to internal pressures -- not because concrete external pressures make it impossible to go on.

So when you feel those internal pressures to stop, don't lend them credence. They're precisely the "enemy". This is exactly the thing that makes doing hard stuff hard. Take the "follow the plan" attitude mentioned below and keep driving.

    Cardio.

When self-doubt creeps in and your stucked in your mind, you just need an hard reset.

15 minutes of cardio is enough to achieve this.

Get that sweat in, quick shower and mental clarity is back.

Following this post because I'm experiencing similar challenges.

    Follow the plan!

Some time ago I created a plan, that I split up into a few areas. Then every week, I decided what next actions to take in these areas. I cannot drink my first coffee of the day unless I created a plan for the day.

Then I execute the plan. Some days you fly, other days you hardly do anything, but trust the plan. Tomorrow will be better.

From the "Atomic Habits" by James Clear, “You do not rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems.”

So, create a system that works for you, and follow it.

    Best of luck!

ps. On top of that, I am part of a mastermind group where we hold each other accountable for what we planned to complete. That works well!
