Hollywood’s new favorite genre is the bad startup founder

Seems like another wave of glorifying VC culture and toxic startup life.

Hollywood — and many people — loves the fall from grace, Icarus-inspired story.

While I'm no fan of this content, I think it prompts an interesting conversation.

I think people are reassured and comforted by this type of startup founder narrative, i.e. if you reach great heights quickly, you're probably a fraud or deceitful in some way.

It helps some people avoid the fear of risk and can pawn off their fear by saying startup life is "immoral" or corrupt. My 9-5 is safe, normal, predictable, and good for society.

Also, there's undeniable schadenfreude satisfaction that many viewers draw from this.

Have you seen any of the startup founder horror films? Any thoughts on them?
