Hey Indies!
We're looking at doing a major overhaul of our current homepage (savology.com). While there are a few things we like on the existing homepage, there's also a few areas we know that we're lacking and can significantly improve. Rather than replacing sections, or adding new ones, we've decided the best route and exercise for us would be a blank canvas and start from scratch.
We'll be changing our overall messaging, providing more context about our available products for both individuals and employers, showcasing and highlighting features and benefits (outcomes), and working on emotional pulls / problem solving.
I'm wondering if any has any tips or has seen any trends or unique takes on homepage designs that work well with relaying information and telling the story.
We're going through this exercise right now (again), and it's not fun! All I can say is start with a central goal: calls booked, trials started, account created etc. The advantage you have with the existing site is that you (hopefully) have data. What is the baseline metric for the goal you want to attain? Now that you have that, you can research the various tried and true methods of increasing that metric. Also, do you have feedback from users? Is support flooded with similar questions? This would be a good indication of what information you need to add to the site that isn't already there. What about product usage? Is there a particular section of the product or aspect of the onboarding that needs more TLC than the rest in order for the user to complete your core action? That would be another good place to start when thinking about what the new site might need.
