Honest feedback on the landing page
Hey, we are building a social network for the thinkers. We have our landing page out and we are looking for some feedback. The goal is for indie hackers such as ourselves to have their own social media where they can journal their thoughts but also be able to convert those ideas into interactive voice apps. Create your own private chat rooms, forums, and have access to insights from best-selling books, and licensed meditation music to relax and chill. You should be able to connect your thoughts to IoT and social media devices, and in the future, we aim to provide SDK to android and IoS apps that you can use to create your own apps. I have added a link below to our landing page, please let me know if this something you would join, and refer to others.
Okay, you got the right person to give you some feedback.
1. The Homepage
• I really like the animations and some of the images. You guys did some serious editing, masking, and cropping to make them look nice. One concern on the images is the first one (the gif at the top of the homepage). The image quality is quite low and that is always a bother when looking at a professional website for me.
2. The signup page
• The form fields could use some extra styling like Neumorphism, border radii, better colors, etc. I always make sure to make form fields with nice designs to make myself and other users more comfortable when filling out the form.
• To have better accesibility, instead of saying "retype password", it usually would be "confirm password". The password hint is pretty nice, but usually, if someone forgets their password, they would just reset it via email. Also, instead of User Id, did you mean Username?
• A good option is to let someone sign in with github or google especially since this site is for developers.
3. Editing settings
• The homepage looks really professional, but all the other pages besides the homepage have a completely different 2002 website style. (sorry, didn't fit into the topic, just had to put it here)
• The settings are quite hard to understand. I can't really find out some things there like updating my avatar.
• Maybe you should use some more modern web design icons like Font Awesome or Feather Icons, etc.
4. Communication
• The emotional diary is just a copycat. I don't know what the point of that is. Also, the message input has autocomplete ON which is very annoying. You should turn that off and remove the outline on the input
outline: none; /*in css*/• The other chatrooms don't seem functional.
5. Overall
The rest of the site was WAY too difficult to use for me. I didn't understand any of the interface and couldn't do a lot of stuff in there. I have to say, this is still in a very early stage and is not early ready for release yet. Here are some things you need to improve:
• UI/UX/Design
• Functionality in both frontend and backend
• Make everything easier to use and figure out
• Modern design icons
Great job, btw. Once you get those stuff done, I'd be happy to test this site again.
