Hey Indie Hackers!
First post here and I'm hoping to bring some value right away.
This week I discovered a trick for creating custom personalised email domains using a free Gmail account. Super useful for all of us with side projects, #nocode projects and anyone else who wants to add more brand value to their project.
All you need is:
Too good to be true? Got that "holy shit, I'm about to save a tonne on email hosting" kinda feeling!? Yup, me too - but it works! Haha.
I've just hooked up about 20 of my domains to one Gmail account, and other people on Twitter and LinkedIn have got it working too.
I'm here to meet new humans (no selling), so instead of directly linking to the guide here, please comment below so we can say Hi, and I'll send you the video and PDF guide. If you'd like the guide, it's now on Gumroad as a free download.
EDIT: Discovered we can't DM on IH, so please DM me on Twitter (link on my profile). It's been really great connecting & chatting with all of you so far.
EDIT 2: Just posted my lessons learned from this experiment read here.
Would still be awesome to connect.
Cheers,
E.
This kind of SPAM should have no place on Indie Hackers.

You need to create a Gmail, point your Mx records to Google servers then create an alias in your Gmail account so on it can send/receive. You have the better option of a Google suite but paid plans.
Use the guide above or google search the steps below
Hi Elliot ! Please send me the video and PDF guide! Thanks!
Hey there. I'm a bit skeptical that there is a strategy, but there might be some way to hack the google aliases to work. Interested to see the technology. My email is on my profile.
Edit: So after reviewing this it doesn't really seem like a good solution. You are incredibly limited by using "Email forwarding" defined in CloudFlare, or your preferred domain handler (e.g. Google domains), Here's the forwarding guide by Google
The problem is that it just isn't scalable. You have to manually configure each of your emails. Using GSuite out of the box is $5/month, but is so much easier.
Hi Elliot ! Please send me the video and PDF guide
I only ever bought domains from Namecheap and the possibility to forward your emails to any other email is directly in their settings. Is it not something that is standardly offered by other domain providers? Where do you buy your domains?
Hey Elliot. Love the way you've posted this as a carrot to get more followers and provide something useful.
I just followed you from 3 of my twitter accounts (@euperia, @CourseCompleted, @Stats_Happy). Would love to read the gmail domain article - would save me some £££.
Hey Elliott!
I’m interested.
Thanks!
Hi Elliott,
I'm interested with this, I have domain lying around actually :)
Hi Elliott, Would love to see the guide. Thanks.
Hey Elliott,
Just saw your tweet 🙂 Wish I had this guide couple of weeks ago, ended up paying for a mailbox for a custom domain. Still interested to see how this works!
Hey Elliott!
I’m interested. Would be glad if you send me the trick :)
Thanks!
Hi Elliott! Interested to learn how this would work :)
Hi Elliott!
I am interested with you guide :)
Hi Elliott, is this still available? Thanks!
I figured (as a growth hacker type), you'd be excited to know that this article appeared on my Google Now feed. And I wasn't a member before. I think Google knows I like Gmail? Good work.
I think it’s crazy that the down vote button is being abused so much @rosiesherry @csallen
Also why does it even exist here?
If users don’t agree, they should just use the comment box and give their opinions
Hi Eliot!
I don't have twitter.
Would you mind to send me to my email?

Interested! Thank you!
I've wasted so much time on this matter and never had a good solution. finally, I settled up with SMTP and Email alias. If you have a good and worry-less solution please let me know. Thank you.
This is the exact same way that I did... by the way, you may end up losing emails because of forwarding server overloading, delays and if you received non-encripted emails... this happened to me some time to time...
Would love to see it, thanks
Hi Elliot ! Please send me the video and PDF guide! Thanks!
