Hopeful Jr. Dev: Looking for partner to start building out larger projects from the ground up.

Hey Everyone!

I'm happy to have found this community for a number of reasons. I'm currently employed in Asset Management at a large North American institution, but for the last 6-8~ months I've dedicated all my spare time into shifting gears into pursuing a career transition into SWE, with the eventual goal of building my own startup in the fintech space. I have experience with JS, React, Node, and some Python, and have started to craft a portfolio using some of these languages and frameworks with the short-term goal of getting hired in a full stack developer role.

As I've become more comfortable with the technology mentioned above, I've been unable to keep myself from brainstorming ideas of larger projects and applications that would not only be great for a portfolio, but also have real world use. In doing so, and in finding out that a community like this exists for people from all backgrounds and skillsets, I think it's an amazing opportunity for myself and any like-minded individuals to collaborate and add a unique dimension to the growth & learning process. This would allow us to be more ambitious and business oriented with the projects we choose to build, while also creating a more dynamic development environment.
