We are 100% Indie, and we are trying to change the way that people learn about and engage with outsourcing, and offshore staffing (a relative of remote staffing). The industry we are trying o change is 25 years old and worth $25bn, so it's not easy...
Despite that, we are super excited to launch the Outsourcing Summit 2020 on 8 October...
http://www.outsourcing-summit.co/
I'm going to give the background and justification below... this post isn't actually about the Summit, but it's about the reason for the Summit...
But I would love your thoughts on the Summit approach, landing page and our mission.
The outsourcing industry in the Philippines is a world leader in the space. The offshore industry is about 25 years old, worth about $25bn and it's full of old incumbents. We are trying to change the way that it is done...
Outsourcing is a broad umbrella term for "offshore employment". Outsourcing encompasses the 'Tim Ferriss- style VA', the Upwork and Freelancer platforms, but there is really much much more to the industry than that.
Crazy fact: 95% of the world's big enterprise businesses have offshore teams. Yet only 0.5% of the world's SME/SMBs have offshore teams. That is crazy. The SMEs are missing out on incredible efficiencies, cost savings and access to incredible resources.
To put that in perspective, there are about 50 million SMEs (Small and Medium Businesses) in the high-cost English-speaking world (North America, UK, Australia etc).
With the advent of remote work, improving technology, communication tools and bandwidth, plus a relentless march towards globalisation of trade and services - there is an inevitability of offshore staffing. I believe that in 20 years from now, it will be a norm to hire from a global pool of candidates instead of just a local pool of candidates. For example, Silicon Valley is a great place for developers, but there are only 4 million people living there. There are 8 billion people on the planet - why not chose and select the best candidates from the full 8 billion, instead of arbitrarily limiting your search.
So SMEs are leaving a lot on the table...
We have been working for 3 years now to build the go-to platform for professional-level outsourcing. This is not another Upwork platform, and it has nothing to do with the gig-economy or project-based work.
It is full-time offshore staffing solutions.
We have a white paper here if you want to learn more about the general thesis:

So we have launched this monster event. The OS2020. We are now less than 1 week out, and it is pretty daunting right now.
Let's see how it goes... Will give feedback after the event...
