How a Simple Feedback System Helped Me Grow My Startup

When I first launched Game Assessment Prep, I didn't know that getting feedback from users would be key to improving and growing the product. But when I understood it,I didn’t want to overcomplicate things or spend too much time on tools that might not be worth the effort. So, I decided to keep it simple and created a basic feedback system using a quick form. The results were far more impactful than I ever expected.

The Struggle: Figuring Out What Users Really Want

Like any entrepreneur, I had a lot of assumptions about what my users needed. But as I worked on my product, I realized that I didn’t have a true sense of what they actually wanted. I needed a way to get honest, actionable feedback—without making it difficult for users to share their thoughts or making myself crazy trying to manage complicated systems.

The Simple Solution: A Quick Feedback Form

Instead of spending weeks looking for the “perfect” feedback system or building a complicated tool, I decided to go with something basic: a simple feedback form. I kept it short, asking users just a few questions about what they liked, what they didn’t, and what they’d want to see in future updates. It was quick and easy, with no fluff.

Here’s why it worked:

  1. No Barriers for Users: The form was easy to complete. I wasn’t asking for too much, and it didn’t take more than a minute. As a result, more users filled it out than I expected.

  2. Straightforward, Honest Insights: The feedback I got was raw and real. I could instantly see what was working and what wasn’t. No guesswork, just real user opinions that I could act on.

  3. A Cycle of Improvement: This wasn’t just a one-off. I set up a system to check feedback regularly. I’d tweak features, improve things based on suggestions, and then let users know about the changes. They could see that their input mattered, and that kept them coming back.

  4. Focused Growth: By listening to what users truly wanted, I could prioritize changes that would make the biggest difference. The improvements weren’t always huge, but they made a big impact over time.

The Results: A Product That Users Actually Love

Since implementing this simple feedback system, I’ve seen a noticeable improvement in both the quality of my product and the way users engage with it. Here’s what happened:

  • Better Fit with What Users Need: The feedback helped me refine the product so it matched users' expectations better. Features that mattered most got polished, and less important things were deprioritized.
  • More Engagement: Because I acted on their feedback, users felt heard. This increased their engagement and led to more word-of-mouth promotion.
  • No Huge Costs: I didn’t need to buy expensive tools or hire anyone. This simple solution was cost-effective and worked just as well as any complex system.

Key Takeaways

  1. Simple Feedback Works: Sometimes, you don’t need complicated tools. A simple form with a few questions can give you the insights you need.
  2. Consistency Is Key: Don’t just collect feedback and forget about it. Use it to improve the product consistently.
  3. Users Appreciate Being Heard: When users know you’re making changes based on their input, they become more loyal and more likely to recommend your product.

If you're just starting out or you're looking for ways to improve your product without overcomplicating things, try setting up a simple feedback system. It worked wonders for me and helped my product grow in ways I never anticipated.

      thank u.
i place it inside the practice session, and right at its end.

      the questions:
1 How clear were the instructions and the game rules for the Numerosity game?
2 Did the game feel realistic compared to what you’d expect in a real HireVue test?
3 Did the game seem fair and consistent?
4 How smoothly did the game run?
      5 What could we improve?
6 Where did you hear about Game Assessment Prep?

remember to always personalize them to ur needs
