How a Simple Sleep Sound App Makes $50K/Month

I came across Bedtime Fan, a simple sleep sound app that helps people relax and fall asleep by playing realistic fan and white-noise sounds.

Maker: Slumber Studios

Revenue: $50K/month

Marketing Strategy

1. App Store Optimization (ASO)

The app targets high-volume keywords like "white noise," "sleep sounds" to capture people already searching for solutions to sleep better.

2. Cross-Promotion

Slumber Studios has a broader ecosystem of sleep apps and bedtime content. They can use their existing audience to drive users toward Bedtime Fan.

The lesson?

Sleep is a real problem and people are willing to pay for solutions.

What makes this interesting is that you don't need to build one complicated sleep app with hundreds of features.

You can take one successful concept and expand it into different niches:

→ White noise

→ Green noise

→ Brown noise

→ Gray noise

→ Rain sounds

→ Fan sounds

The core technology can be very similar. You are simply targeting a different user intent and keyword.

This is why I think sleep sound apps are an interesting mobile app opportunity. You don't always need a new idea. Sometimes you just need to find another niche for an idea that already works.

If you're looking for more validated mobile app ideas with their estimated MRR and marketing strategies, I put together a list you can check out here.

But people are already listening to music on YouTube to fall asleep. Why would they come to your app?

    1. 1

It's not my app but people are not only listening they are paying $50k/month for the sleep sound. you tell me why they are paying rather than listening to youtube?

  18. 1

The interesting part to me is how little the core product actually needs to change. People search for very specific sounds, so creating separate apps around those intents could make ASO much easier. It’s a good example of how a simple product can still have room to grow if the distribution and positioning are right.

    That's really goo idea

    amazing concept

When mimicking what another app already does, what steps do you take to differentiate yourself?

    1. 1

Why do you need to differenciate. For consumer apps everyone is focusing on UGC nowadays. Just focus on SEO and get a decent users, make money and be happy.
