How an anonymously written newsletter achieved success

With newsletters in a(nother) hype cycle, I’ve heard people debating whether success is only possible/probable for writers who are already famous. So I found this pretty fascinating: Petition, one of Substack’s top paid newsletters, is not only about a very niche topic (bankruptcy) but also anonymously written.

They did a post on how they achieved success despite purposely starting from scratch and spending $0 on acquiring subscribers: https://petition.substack.com/p/yes-it-can-work

Cool, but they don’t explain HOW they did it. How are they acquiring subscribers? Word of mouth?

Just a friendly suggestion: The paragraphs in the article are too, too long (one is over 15 rows long). You may want to separate that article into smaller paragraphs for easier reading.

I didn’t write the above article. I’m just sharing it!
