I am sure it is still big in enterprises. Overnight batch SFTP payroll data to the mainframe and all that.

exactly. big enterprises still use legacy stuff :)

I know, I was just joking and being a troll. Sorry...

You can configure Integration Server to connect to an SFTP server to perform the following tasks using the SFTP protocol:

    1. Transfer files between Integration Server and the SFTP server.
    2. Access files in the SFTP server.
    3. Manage directories or files in the SFTP server.
    4. SFTP server alias.
    5. SFTP user alias.

I mean, SFTP is a protocol. I can imagine a few use cases where it would be useful if you're building an MVP and don't want to build a full-fledged product. If your SaaS is related to files management/things related to files then yeah, FTP and SFTP makes sense.

I had to lookup what SFTP stands for, it’s “Secure File Transfer Protocol” for anyone else wondering

I’ve heard of accountants using terrible software systems for uploading file before. I’m not sure if these systems are actually more secure than Dropbox or Google Drive, but maybe they market themselves that way better?

SFTP came around way before Dropbox or Google Drive (I think first version was in 1997). The difference between Google Drive is that it's a third-party cloud service. SFTP is a way to transfer files directly from your own server / machine.
