How are some products displaying negative revenue?

I've seen some products on this forum that are reporting negative monthly revenue. I'm not sure how this is possible since revenue means money coming in to the company. Are people confusing revenue with profit and including their expenses in the revenue, or is there a bug in the system somewhere?
