How are you sharing your podcast episode?

Hi,

I'd like to know how you're currently sharing your podcast episode? What's your process? Are you using tool(s)? Any frustrations you have, is it taking you lots of time? Do you think you could reach more subscribers from social sharing if done differently / with more time?

Had you tried posting teaser of your podcast episodes on social media?

I'm asking because I'm building a tool that hopefully will help the process, but I'd like to know more regarding what podcasters are currently doing.

Thanks for sharing :)

@rosiesherry Thanks for the mention! Officially launched yesterday :)

Pod Hunt is focusing on helping Podcasters gain more listeners by fixing discovery.

For sharing your episodes to your existing followers on social media, I've seen a lot of people are using Headliner.app to create the content, and then using existing social media management tools (like buffer) to share them.

Yes, this is where I'd like to position my product, which would remove the manual work of segmenting and producing a teaser. I think post-production is already hard (editing and publishing). The product I'm building is Vivid.fm.

Cool. We are doing something similar but don't do the automated/email approach.

Got it. I saw the other thing you were building quietly with Justin btw. I'm eager for THAT to get launched. Quick User or something along those lines?

Currently, I mainly share new episodes only on Twitter (examples) and on LinkedIn (if I remember). I do want to get better at reaching a larger audience, but time is a huge constraint for me. I plan to check out podhunt.app from @Mubs to see if that audience is receptive to my show's content.

thanks for sharing, and yes I hear you it takes lot of time. I'll start onboarding 1 podcast at a time very soon with Vivid which will do that automatically (creating and sharing a video teaser of each episode).

If it's something you'd want to try feel free to subscribe.

It's really hard man. Lately, we've been trying this style of tweet with a video teaser: https://twitter.com/upsidefm/status/1164145628353585152

But previously were doing more of written teaser: https://twitter.com/upsidefm/status/1151497784593473536

Jury is out on which is better -- I prefer the video so far.

We also share a the episode via email, Linkedin, and our Facebook. Then, I write an email to the guest with all of those links to share. Guest shares on Linkedin tend to get the best traction, since our guests don't tend to have much of a Twitter following on their nascent company pages.

When the subject matter is relevant, we'll then share that link directly with people or places in our network that seem like a fit.

All in all, very manual process for us.

Thank you for the comments and links, highly appreciated.

I'm building Vivid which focus on helping with that process (using automatic video teasers). That's why I'd like to learn more for now to build the right thing.

Right now I'm experimenting with NOT posting audio snippets of my episodes to see what my personal sharing does (my social media following is modest at best). But generally I've been using a paid account with Wavve.co to produce teasers that I post on Twitter and Instagram to promote episodes.

thanks for sharing. Was having to manually produce the teaser yourself difficult / long / not worth the time in your opinion?

Not really. You create your templates up front. Then, most people just grab 30 seconds that are noteworthy from their podcasts when they tools like Wavve. I record a custom intro to that snippet too, because...who knows why. I like it that way.
