How are you staying connected with your remote team mates?

When my team first went into remote work mode, none of us were prepared. The biggest challenge for me was feeling a sense of belonging to a team. Others felt similarly - water-cooler conversations were sorely missed (who would've thought!)

So, we blocked off an hour in the week for non-work conversations and goof around on a video call. Which helped us know each other better - some of whom I had never met in person. It has been a year and despite any amount of work load we gather to talk or play online games.

We even built a product for ourselves but that's a story for another time.

I would love to know what do you do to stay connected with your team!

During my full-time position in a team with 12 members we started doing remote team activities on a regular basis.

    For example

    Exercise
For example one of our team member was a yoga instructor, so they hosted a 20 min quick yoga session once a week.

    Fun
I looked up fun slack games like rock paper scissors and we had a dedicated gaming channel

    Coffee Chat
We mixed up a team member randomly once per week for a coffee chat. Important was to have icebreakers and talk about nonwork related topics

I wrote an article on this topic in case you are interested, you can read about how to plan activities and what' important
