Hi Guys, I'm a software engineer, and I love to build things... And I love to study about a lot of technologies, marketing and business stuff.
Then I'm thinking how to organize my routine for my side hustle, my studies routing without impacting on my 9-5 work as a software engineer (A job that I love so much).
I'm trying to wake up at 5AM, put my focus at building my SAAS between 5am~8am, then do my work for the company, and after that have a study time between 8pm ~ 11pm. Is this a good idea of routine?
How do you run your routine?
Thanks so much!
My routine is pretty similar to yours. I like to work on my side projects in the morning before I start my job. I feel like my energy level is the highest and I find it easier to focus than in the afternoon.
But as @c0nsilience already pointed out. The routine doesn’t matter so much as having one. As long as you're constantly building, you'll be fine. And don't worry too much about having low-productivity days. Happens to all of us :)
Great man, thanks for the opina of view.
I working on my side project 2 hour in the evening and 1 hour to learning new stuff. Usually from 8PM - 11PM. I think the most important thing is consistency.
Great, I thing this too, consistency os the uniríeis way to win the long term projects
Maybe try to inch another hour or two of sleep in your routine. Aiming to get 8 hours of sleep is probably what keeps you in the fight for the long run.
Thanks, I'm thinking about this
I personally seem to absorb information really well when I'm fresh out of bed, so I prefer to do most of my reading in the AM. Also gives your brain that opportunity to slowly charge up and awaken after a good night's sleep.
Thanks, this made sense for me too... I'll try one or two weeks the way you told. Thanks!
I usually keep all my learning routines in the morning like reading blogs, newsletters and random news.
And I running my side projects in the evening. Product, content and marketing. Everyday there's a theme, so that I can really focus :) Currently working on VenturesList
Hey Felix. I'm interested in the theme you mentioned. Would you mind elaborating on that?
Daily routine may work for you. What's worked for me on side hustles is to push away everything else and build for 36 to 72 hours (depending on what's happening).
When I had a full time job, I used every national holiday to build a project. Thanksgiving I made a black friday deals site. (2x in the past 4 years). Over Christmas Holidays I'd have a bit more time. I launched my newsletter between thanksgiving and Christmas 3 years ago, so I don't hold myself to this all the time.
But that packing it all into 1 or 2 days really has become norm for me. From when I started to launched it, took me 24 hours to launch Better Sheets.
I will remember that the next holiday, a great oportunity. Thanks for this advice man
The routine doesn’t matter so much as having one. Do what works for you and you won’t go wrong.
I thing this way too, but I'm trying to imrpove my routing, trying to get more productive with this.
The fact that you’re making a conscious effort is a great thing and puts you a step ahead. Kudos! 👍
