How are you writing your privacy policy?

Hi indie hackers!

How are y'all writing your privacy policy? And how do you keep it up to date? I'm asking because I'm considering working on a solution that can keep a privacy policy up to date automatically, increasing your chance of remaining compliant with GDPR and other data protection laws.

Thanks for your vote! And feel free to share any related thoughts in the comments:)

The only time I had to do it I googled a free generator, which promised to generate a privacy policy for $0 and guided me through the entire process nicely which took like 20 minutes...

...and then turned out not free at all and not even cheap. (Like $100+)

But it showed the resulting text just in the browser, so I shamelessly fished the text from HTML, formatted and edited it myself to my liking. Screw that shady practice.

I generated a Privacy Policy content using ChatGPT.

If you are an early startup with no money, use chatgpt and tailor it per your data retention and collection. If you have money, go for paid providers. General anything with legal is expensive :)

We are using Termly for a year, however it might be costly if you are willing to use their monthly subscriptions.

Quick tip; If you are not going to change your product often, one-time use is a great option :)
