How are your podcast download numbers doing during the lockdowns?

In my case, podcast download numbers are down, but visits to the forum are up. Likely what's going on is that, because people are trapped at home, they're spending less time on their phones and more time on their computers.

As a result, I'm considering de-prioritizing the podcast a bit, and redirecting my energy somewhere I'll get more bang for my buck.

What's going on with all of you podcasters?

@AndrewKamphey I saw you might be doing the same?

for me, as a podcasts consumer, I'm not consuming podcasts that much during the lockdown, I mainly listen to podcasts while commuting to work or in the gym/going out for a run. so being at home 24x7 is not helping me in that matter :(

Mine haven’t changed much. I plan to try converting some of my episodes to long form blog posts.

Launched my podcast around lockdown time, numbers have been steady, approaching 1000 downloads. Hopefully expecting increase in numbers after the lockdown.

I don't do podcasts, but I do listen to tech content on YouTube (talking head type) in my car about 2 - 2 1/2 hours a day. At least I did before da 'rona. I'd keep everything in Watch Later and usually have about 100 videos there. Now, I have over 400 there and haven't been able to tackle as many. I guess I've been using my extra time to sleep and go for walks. It would be hard for me to listen to someone else talk and try to do my work, which, luckily, I still have!

Our numbers for Member Maker are holding pretty steady right now compared to the March and February 🤷‍♂️.

I barely listen to podcasts at home. When I'm home, I'd rather choose to read or watch than listen. I used to listening to podcasts while commuting.

As a data point of 1, I do almost all my podcast listening in the car (e.g. driving kids to/from school and activities). Since everything is canceled, I'm not driving anymore and overall my podcast consumption is down probably 75%.

But I still listen to every IH episode so please don't stop making those!

I feel weird promoting the podcast on social media between posts about the virus. I've stopped promoting new episodes. But I still release new episodes for my current subscribers in case they want non-virus content.

numbers-wise I'm at a 50% drop for the week. But people will still download episodes after the week. The first episode I didn't promote is only down 25% from the last episode I promoted.

Production-wise I'm at the same place or even more. My new project is based heavily on my podcast content. If I stop producing I can't work on my new project.

I had stopped my podcast with guests end of 2019. Not enough value for listeners.

However I do use substack's "podcast" feature to send 5 to 10 minute audio notes weekly to newsletter subscribers and 10 to 20 minute deep dives, by myself.
