How best to price my product?

Hello fellow hackers!

My project Cronboard has been in private beta for a while now.

I took the approach of having potential users subscribe for early access and have been activating user accounts in batches.

A good portion of them haven't really come back to check it out after their account was activated and that got me thinking:
Is my pricing scaring away users?

During the Beta phase is important to get as many people on board as possible, and me not having a free option has been somewhat of blocker.
Even though the product is completely free during Beta I started thinking that having only paid plans was resulting in a fewer beta testers.

I decided to try and extend my pricing options - I've added a 3-tiered model, including a free option.
While this does complicate things a bit I'm interested to see if that makes a difference.

So, my question for you is:
What do you think? Should I offer a free option or try to make the pricing as simple as possible?

What pricing models have your opted for and why?

I would love to hear your thoughts and start a discussion on the topic 👍
