Managing contractors is my largest pain point as an IndieHacker.
BP has set up some smart internal tools and processes for hiring and firing contractors.
At my previous startup, I worked with someone that came from oilfield services-- he started his own oilfield services company with his brother while they were in their twenties, ran it for a few years, and generally did really, really well.
One of the best things about working with him was hearing some of his nightmarish stories about logistics and personnel management that was all done by hand.
