How can I ask users to spread the word about our product?
We have users on the free plan regularly using the product and getting value out of it.
How to make these users share our product? We are planning to send an email asking them to rate us on various SaaS rating sites.
Has anyone done this before? Any email template suggestions?
What's in for them if they share you?
You could incentivize them, of course, either with money or with "more of your product" (Dropbox did it by promising more storage space).
Another option is to make them look cool. I saw this recent post on Indie Hackers where Jacob made his product look prettier & this caused people to start sharing it (see this post for more examples).
So there are many ways to try and get people to share your product (or the output of your product), but it all starts with "what's in for them".
Right - @satendra gives your users some incentive that gives them a better experience with your product. Maybe it's beta access to a feature, it could be anything as long as it's something that will make them feel exclusive.
You can suggest a gift for any mention on social media, for instance.
