Hi, this is our site: https://www.buylocalized.com/
I would welcome any feedback, but in particular I wanted to see if anyone has any ideas on demonstrating social proof, and showing off our knoweldge. The extension is based off of a database of companies that manufacture in the USA. Well we have done a ton of research and have the biggest database of those companies in the world, and I don't think the font page will convince anyone of that. On top of that since we are so new I can't show any ratings for our Extension, so I'm trying to figure out ways to show we are trustworthy.
Thanks!
I love the idea!
Honestly, I think social proof is not much of an issue for your product. I don't even think you need to prove yourself as the best. You just need to prove yourself as "helpful" and "useful"
Your product has a low bar of entry: it's a free chrome extension. You don't need a lot of persuasions to let people start using it. You just need to focus on "how exactly does this work."
I'd suggest moving the "How it works" and "Our mission" up to make it clear.
@rab's idea of "ethical" is actually pretty good IMO. After you make it clear to visitors on how the extension works, a story on the ethical side of your motivation is great to make users feel even better about themselves. That's how they'll install your extension.
Side note: I love the transparency on the blog posts, but it's a bit hard to read with the font color. Also, I'd suggest changing the titles. "We want users!" and "We need more users!" sounds very selfish. It's not about the product, it's about helping local businesses and helping people buy local.
Hope this helps!
As to the blog posts, I find writing that stuff really easy. It's what I'm thinking about all week, and it's very productive to summarize it all and talk about what we are planning for the future. I wanted a very clear call to action there, I didn't want what we need at the moment to be ambiguous. What you said does connect to something though, in that we should have more content touching on ethical and environmental things, to demonstrate our knowledge, and that's something I've tried to write and really haven't succeeded at.
Nice idea. Have wanted to do something like this.
Your focus is "local" but you talk about "ethical" so could consider that as addition/ alternative.
An animated gif or cartoon video could help show how it works to get message across. This says it all tho tbh "See local options as you shop on Amazon.".
As u know trust ultimately has to be earned but having list of "Used by Company X" or "Awards" or similar can be used to gain initial trust.
Perhaps a simple "World's largest database of US companies" or similar could work.
I don't want to mix up the message at the start. I want to make it clear we are there for people to easily buy locally made stuff. On the "How it works" page we do have a GIF, though it's possible we would want one on the front page.
Ya we don't have many users or anything so I don't have any of that stuff. Once we get some users and Stars we will add that to the front page.
We state on the front page, I think, that we have the largest database of US made products, but it's not really emphasized. I couldn't think of a good way to do it.
It seems to have changed since I looked.
For me:
Best of luck
