How can I boost my landing page's conversion rate?

Hello Indie Hackers!

I'm the creator of Monitoro, a tool designed to help you stay ahead by monitoring websites for changes, extracting data, and automating your workflows—all without needing to write a single line of code. We're on a mission to save you from the endless cycle of manually refreshing web pages, hoping to catch updates and changes. Fun bit: Our first prototype was launched on IH a few years ago!

After pouring countless hours into developing Monitoro, I've hit a roadblock that I believe many of you can relate to—optimizing my landing page to improve conversion rates. I've tried to make it as clear and compelling as possible, emphasizing the pain points Monitoro addresses, such as time wasted on manual updates and the benefits and use cases for real-time alerts and automations.

But I'm at a point where I could really use your collective expertise and fresh eyes. Here's what I'm hoping to get feedback on:

  1. Clarity: Is the value proposition of Monitoro immediately clear?

  2. Engagement: Are there elements on the page that you find particularly engaging or, conversely, off-putting?

  3. Call to Action: How effective do you find the call to action? Is it compelling enough to make you want to sign up?

  4. Overall Feel: Does the landing page convey a sense of trust and credibility? Would you feel comfortable using Monitoro based on the landing page alone?

Here's the link to the landing page: https://monitoro.co

I genuinely appreciate any and all feedback you can provide. Your insights will be invaluable in helping me refine Monitoro's landing page to better resonate with potential users. Plus I'm more than happy to return the favor by providing feedback on your projects or answering any questions about Monitoro.

Thanks so much for taking the time to help out a fellow indie hacker. Looking forward to your thoughts and suggestions!

The landing page for Monitoro needs clarity, ensuring visitors grasp its value proposition immediately. Engage users with compelling visuals and concise, persuasive copy. Focus on benefits, showcasing real-world scenarios where Monitoro saves time and boosts productivity. I myself am working on this winch blog. I myself followed this method for him too, see and benefit from it.

Thanks! Can you share a link to your blog?

Hi Omar, here are a few ways to improve the conversion (even though CRO is all about running weekly experiments and checking what works best for you). But, still, based on the existing version, here's a quick teardown.

    1. I was reading your hero section and it looks good but didn't trigger me to take any action. Now, the moment I watch the video, I actually understand the problem you solve and I connect with it because I've missed a ton of discounts from favorite brands just because I was late to notice them.
    2. So, try adding more of 'what are the most important benefits a user gets from Monitoro' to your headline.
    3. Answer exactly how you help them reach that benefit with a quick stat/proof in the section below the headline.
    4. Add visuals to the right and also add a video below the hero section. This way, you don't lose users who never click on videos.
    5. Benefits section is just a text dump. You need to pick on the conversion copywriting principles and focus more on this section. Each benefit should have a headline that's not just 'efficiency' but actually answers how Monitoro makes me more efficient.
    6. There's no social proof on the page. Please add a few testimonials.

Overall, if you follow a show vs tell approach, you'll convert better. You have a great tool, focus on showing more of that on the landing page.

Thank you so much @Kanz! Really appreciate the thoughtfulness in your feedback, those are excellent points you are raising.

      conversion copywriting principles

Is there a reference or an article/book you could refer me to so I can get more familiar with these principles?

Hey @omneity, I am new here so can't post links yet. Feel free to DM me on Twitter (@copyteardowns) and I'll share a few resources from my swipe file:)

    Hi Omar,

Personally, I would suggest that you put up a mission statement on your landing page. A clearly defined mission statement which highlights your overall goals and what benefits which would being to me as a user.

    Hope it helps.
    All the best.

      Hi Nitheesh!

That makes perfect sense, thank you for your feedback! :)

    Hi Omar,

This product looks promising! Here are a few suggestions to enhance conversions:

    • Clarify the Value Proposition: It currently lacks clear definition.
    • Mobile Optimization: The site needs to be more mobile-friendly.
    • Reduce Friction: Mention upfront that no credit card is required to avoid hesitation.
    • Revise the Pricing Section: It may have clarity issues similar to the value proposition.

I focused on the header and pricing sections as they are pivotal: the header creates the first impression, and the pricing section is where decisions are made.

I've developed some variants in this Figma file:

I hope this is helpful :) Redona.

Thank you @redona this is fantastic!

Clarify the Value Proposition: It currently lacks clear definition

Do you have examples of brands or products that particularly nail this?

Mobile Optimization: The site needs to be more mobile-friendly.

Which parts do you feel are as mobile-friendly as they could be?

Revise the Pricing Section: It may have clarity issues similar to the value proposition.

Did something in particular feel confusing? Or did you have some unanswered questions after looking at it?

I've developed some variants in this Figma file:

      You're the real MVP 🙏

Did I miss this new bad trend of animated gifs where videos are, to me these are distractions, especially as this doesn't pass the message you really want

    First to Know,
    First to Act
    Act on any website change

Or something like that, close the mental loop

Monitor websites, get alerts, extract data, and >automate your work.
    No code needed.

Automate reactions to any website change, alerts, integrations and more #Nocode

The video, when you start demonstrations looks too much stuff like it might be complicated, and its a bit of here are features and buttons not solutions. what can it do for me, not what buttons titles are

Thank you so much for your feedback @hatkyinc!

Or something like that, close the mental loop

Could you expand on what you mean by mental loop? What felt missing to your understanding here?

The video, when you start demonstrations looks too much stuff like it might be complicated, and its a bit of here are features and buttons not solutions. what can it do for me, not what buttons titles are

Yeah it's a bit difficult to summarize everything that can be done with Monitoro in 30 seconds, so the idea behind that video is to inspire innovators in various industries to explore our platform and create automations that are useful to them.

But I hear you. We're actually working on industry-specific monitors to immediately get value out of Monitoro. Would that address the concern that you raised?

You don't have to explain everything. You don't have to do it in 30 sec.
The best way to end is with me curious to know more. Or think this is for me.
I don't have to know all the details in the intro.

Perfect, thank you for the insights!
