Hello there, I'm the creator of JSONsilo.com
My platform offers users the ability to host their static JSON files and convert them into REST APIs.
Currently, I have over 50 users signed up for the free plan, but I haven't acquired any paid subscribers yet. I've been monitoring my server every week, and the total number of requests on my server keeps increasing.
What are the best methods to convert my free plan customers into subscribers for my pro plan? The current pricing is $9.99 per month. Should I consider reducing the price to $5?
Upselling actions. Your audience needs for something else. Find it out and offer them in the way they need it. You've built trust. Take advantage of that
The point is not the price, but the service you provided in your subscribe plan. Try to figure out why users keep using free plan.
There wouldn't be a big difference between $9.99 and $5, if your subscribe plan is not attractive.
I agree with you.
I think I need to add more features to the Pro plan to attract customers.😄
Could an upsell during the sign-up process be a solution?
Good idea.
Maybe I should ask users to upgrade their plan if they reach the plan limit.
Changing the pricing is not a solution. What if they are willing to pay higher? ;)
What is the point when they're ready to pay? Is it when they cross a request limit? Is it the company size? Is it dependent on the revenue they make? Document your users on an excel sheet and mark them on as many pointers as you can think. Once you've identified the right persona, you'll be nearing your product-market fit.
Depending on the time you have, you could chat one-on-one or do a quick short "personalized" survey.
Write them by their name, thank them for using your product, meet them, ask how your product has helped them, (tip: keep it about them, not about you), then ask if they are willing to pay, and how much.
If you don't want to ask, you need to identify your Product-Market fit. Most SaaS founders can help you with this. I'm one. Does Indiehacker have DMs?
If you make any uninformed decisions, you might not find success. Do your groundwork first before making any changes or announcements.
This requires diving into your SaaS product, offering, painpoints, and target audience personas. Then changes/updates are made accordingly, which results in free to paid conversions. I have done this for Helpfull and many other SaaS folks before. Let me know if you want to talk.
I would definitely nudge your users based on their usage. Having one on one calls with them will be super helpful in understanding how they're using the product and what they'd be willing to pay. Talk to your customers.
Usage limits
Usual conversion rates are 2%-5%. So, 50 users is still a small set. I would suggest you to may be give a quick LTD plan with onetime payment and see if that can bring in a couple of paying users. Then you can play around pricing.
Thank you for the idea. I am planning to add one-time payment soon.
Hey Jairon,
Great product! I had the same idea back in 2021 but had enough on my plate already and couldn't take on another project.
The idea came from my own problem of having a bunch of JSON data, but wanting to instantly turn it into an API I could use across my personal projects. Once it was accessible on the API I probably wouldn't have needed anything beyond that. With my own approach I was thinking free tiers would expire the API after 30 days, and subscribers would never expire. That would prompt people to upgrade.
Hey, thank you.
This is good idea.😄
