How can I get more customer reviews for my business?

Does anyone have any idea about how a business can generate reviews?

Ask your customers to give you a review, e.g. as part of onboarding, or after a week/a month/special event/great customer support case.

When is the best time to ask for feedback? I've found asking too early can backfire as well.

Well, eventually you'll have to ask :)
Try to do it around a positive experience with your product or service.

It's amazing what simply asking for things can get you!

    • Give trial
    • run a lifetime deal
    • do promotion
    • give extra bonus/features and so on.

Then ask and you shall receive.

^I think this too. Usually if you ask in some async way in the experience or after, people don't mind giving a review. You meant giving an extra bonus to those that do - have any companies successfully made this work? I'd be curious to know more.

Never ask anyone to give you a review if they haven't even used your product before.

Ask your customers to give you a review after a free trial, promotion, special offers, extra features and so on.

Asking customers is the easiest way.
I built reviewstap to help automate and streamline the process of requesting reviews, with the added benefit of keeping negative feedback internal.

There is a great site called https://starloop.com/ they have system where they will plant a tree for each review they get for your business.

Most of the large review platforms like G2 or Capterra will partner with you to offer an incentive to customers to leave a review. It's usually a $10 gift card.

If you have a profile on either of those platforms you may want to consider reaching out to them.

I remember reading about a study which showed that products get more reviews (around 10% more) when they frame their product as an experience. Basically, that means less emphasis on features, etc., and more emphasis on emotional responses, social aspects, and user stories. I found it interesting 🤷‍♂️

Send e-mails to your users and ask for reviews. If they are hesitant to give reviews you may give them some perk. You should state that they will get the perk in any case no matter what kind of review it is. Usually people are quite happy to leave feedback, if they are still using your product. Also feedback some people tend to give you lots of it.

What is your product? did you try in-app feedback?

What exactly do you mean by in-app feedback? I'm building a subscription-based online school for product managers.

Build an in-app feedback survey that is easy for users to write feedback, reviews, suggestions, etc. Curate the best reviews and put them on your website like a testimonial.

Build a great product, make sure your customer service is second to none and don't be afraid to ASK for reviews. Rewards work well, I used to review products for 10$ amazon gift cards and loved it, only gave genuine reviews. Most products were actually amazing so it was pretty easy.
