How can I get more pre-orders?

Hi everyone. I started a femtech company this year, Chérie www.cherieorganic.com.

We're the most sustainable single-use period product in the market. It's the first 100% plastic-free, paper-wrapped tampon solution + it's made from organic cotton (aka no chemicals, toxins, GMOs). Currently all tampons contain plastic whether it be from plastic applicators or the plastic wrap, and the plastic from menstrual products contributes to up to 20 billion / year (in the US) which goes directly to our landfills and waterways.

Our goal is to introduce a new type of paper-only tampon and to reduce our plastic waste from menstrual goods from 20 billion to 15 billion within a 5-10 year timeframe.

We're currently looking to get a minimum of 300 pre-orders via self crowdfunding to make this product into a reality (and we'll return 100% of the money raised if we don't reach our goal, which hopefully won't be the case). The reason we're self-crowdfunding is because Kickstarter/Indiegogo takes up to 15% of your raised funds.

I'd really appreciate any advice on how to reach my goal from other entrepreneurs and people who have marketing or crowdfunding experience. If you're interested in our mission and project, it would also be helpful if you could share our link out to your friends/social or commit to a pre-order. Even if you're a guy, you can gift it to a female friend or family member. :)

Thanks everyone. I look forward to your feedback and response.

Find any journalists covering Femtech and reach out to them. Even 1 or 2 articles/interviews will get you in front of the right people, early adopters.

You've got a great product. How have you been reaching out to journalists and what kind so far? Writing about your product would be an easy-clicker story for most well-sized outlets. Let's connect on LinkedIn, I may be able to connect you with someone at https://www.instagram.com/ubuntoo/?hl=en that could help with exposure.

As for reaching journos - doing it over Twitter is a great platform. Your post is public so it gets eyeballs regardless, and it can immediately catch attention and grow into something if you're lucky. (pretty much why I started my business!)

we are self crowdfunding now and also launching a kickstarter later in january. we delayed the real crowdfunding on kickstarter because its holiday season, and our marketing agency person recommended we wait until january to do an official launch. we want to see how much traction we can get first on our own!
