How can I keep my app relevant?

Hey IH, Been a while since I talked in this community.

I would like to get a few ideas or suggestions to keep my app relevant which was created 1.5 years ago.

So I and my friend run 2 different web apps (links below) that are in the same niche with 1 being just an extracted version from another app.

https://livecounts.io
https://tokcount.com

2021 was the best year for us, we had lot of users visiting our sites every single day (Traffic from organic google search) and we worked both to improve the app and managed the infrastructure to handle the traffic we had at that time. As days went by we couldn't change a lot of things, we just let it stay as it was. Now the user base is definitely decreasing but that makes sense since any app if not maintained would die eventually.
But now I would like to revive or revamp our projects and that's the reason I'm here to get feedback and ideas from you guys on how I can make it more relevant or stabilise the user base. We occasionally get traffic boosts from the tik tok community as well, but it would be only for few days.

I would strongly suggest to read what your active users has been asking for. Don't ask here, we don't even know your tool.

Also, deactivate ads. Not only it doesn't look professional, I'm sure they are not giving a big cut of your income so there is no pro of having them, just several cons.

I agree with your first point.

Ads are the only source of income for the whole site, this is a completely free-to-use app. Only with ads we are able to pay for the hosting.

Oh, so you should really focus on creating some features to charge for them. If the market is big you can have a freemium model and it will work.

I suggest not to go after the ads road.

For example, you could start selling a feature to spy on competition. The users could select 5/10 accounts to spy on and you would tell them with alerts when their accounts had spikes on new followers or downs, or what post had pikes, what hashtags are they using most, etc.

Again, I would speak with users first.

          Nice input, thank you fabri!

I've got to agree with Fabri here, the ads are a little overwhelming and take up a lot of space. I know it's easier said than done to remove them though, especially if they are your only source of revenue.

Could you not introduce a "pro" tier that gives users unlimited comparisons, and limit the free tier to 1 or 2 searches per day/week/month etc to encourage signups?

You could also offer tokens that let people make a comparison without having to commit to a monthly subscription, for example $1 for 10 comparison tokens.

As far as I know the user base is majorly not adults, so I guess they won't pay for it. Only one way to find out though, that is implementing and testing irl.

Do you talk to your users? What do they ask you? What feedback do you get from them?

Only recently we added a form to get surveys on what people think about our website. I actually was able to get some new feature requests and suggestions.
      Looking forward to it

Every time I am unsure what the next steps in the WBE Space should be I ask my users. Talk with them, schedule calls, they will guide you

ah right, thanks will try that.
