How can I monetize my domain availability app?
Hey guys, I have been working on an app that helps you get different checks before you buy a domain.
I have seen how past domain reputation and ignorance regarding registered trademarks have cost thousands of dollars to startups, that is why I made it.
I am looking for suggestions on how to monetize something like this.
My first thought is that the SEO and backlink dimension could add good value to this.
Though that is more for a target market that is interested in acquiring dropped domains with good backlinks. Not sure if that's really who you're going after.
I'm sure this must exist, but an automated newsletter for soon-to-drop or recently dropped domains that contains this data + backlink profiles + how many times the domain has been dropped + if there is anything sketchy in archive.org.
What you could charge for would be a daily or weekly, semi-curated list of these domains. The more people pay, the earlier they'd get notified about domains, or the better domains they'd get. The hard part is, it becomes more competitive for subscribers the more people join. At that point you could consider breaking it down by industry, so people pay more to subscribe to multiple lists.
Just some ideas, again, not sure if that's really what you're going for but it is an area where I believe there is $$.
Yeah, these are currently a little out of my current scope. I will surely try to introduce it in the future. 😊
Many domain registrars have reseller/whitelabel programs, where you can make money by having people register domains through their service on your site. GoDaddy has one such program here: https://www.godaddy.com/reseller-program.
This would be perfect, as once the user finds their domain on your site, you could give them the ability to buy it right away (and make some money too)!

But do you have traffic already?
I have not launched yet. Deciding on which API to integrate as the free ones are not working properly.
I think I can go on a trial run for 3 months and see if it can at least become sustainable by then.
