How can I promote my first webinar?

Hi ladies

I'm looking for some creative ideas on how to promote my first webinar. It's called 'How to Crush it on LinkedIn'.

I'm targeting specialists who want to be known as the go-to expert in their industry.

My goal is to get 50 sign-ups by the 12th of June. So far, I've:

  • Created an event page on Facebook and on LinkedIn.
  • Invited my LinkedIn connections and Facebook friends who I think will get massive value from the webinar (work in progress).
  • Sent a newsletter to my subscribers (I only have 37 subscribers at the moment though)
  • Posted the event link to relevant Facebook groups that I'm a part of.

What else can I do?

FYI, here's the event page link >> https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZIpdu-srTIvGt1B6yfV-uApZG88sGHC0lJC

    Hi Zviko,

The first thing I would do is to really hone in on my target audience.

You've said you're targeting specialists who want to be known as experts in their industry. This is very broad. What industry are you most familiar with or have the widest network in?

I would then change the message to something more specific, which outlines an outcome that someone in that industry may be looking for. Why do people want to be known as experts? To get a job? To start a business? To get more speaking engagements?

Look where the existing experts in those industries are hanging out. It's likely that people who aspire to be like them are hanging out in the same places.

To give an example, for tech you could change your message to "Learn how to become a thought leader in tech and book speaking engagements". That is a much more targeted message, with a clear outcome to be attained.

    Good luck!

    Best,
    Marilyn

Thanks Marilyn! This is great feedback! My plan is to narrow down my niche after this webinar.
I want to see which experts show the most interest, then from there I can decide who I can add the most value to.

You're welcome! Good luck with the webinar, keep us updated on how it goes.

Thank you for the support, Marilyn! I've now got 83 people registered in just 6 days.
My next goal is to reduce the number of no-shows :)

That's awesome work in just a few days!

Some of the techniques I've seen people adopt for successful webinars are:

            • get the conversation going before the webinar begins. Find a way of introducing attendees to each other. If conversation can start to flow between them, there's less chance of no-shows because they've already begun to invest in those relationships. This can be something as simple as creating a twitter poll and using that to spark a conversation.

            • tweet and post in the days leading up to the webinar to remind people that lots of other people are already signed up. We all have a fear of turning up to the party and there's no-one there. If you can remind people that x number of people are registered, that will encourage them

            • in the lead-up, ask for suggestions of what people would like to discuss. I see a lot of podcasters doing this. I think it helps create buy-in and will also help you to keep the webinar focussed on things your audience are interested in

It might also be worth thinking about putting something together to give attendees after the webinar eg all attendees will receive a recording of the live webinar, exclusive first-access to key-findings / blog post / ebook etc

    Hi, Zviko!

Have you published a post about it on LinkedIn yet? I'd be happy to share it in my LinkedIn timeline if you would share the link here.

Have you tweeted about it? I'd be happy to retweet if you post the link to your tweet here :-D

It might be effective to create a short simple content post for LinkedIn, as well. I'm thinking of something that would serve as a bit of a teaser (a preview) of what people will learn in the webinar. Give folks a little taste of the good stuff they'll get in the webinar. That kind of thing often converts me because I'm not willing to pay for something until I have a pretty concrete idea of how quality the content/product will be.

You could offer a free LinkedIn profile review/critique to the first 7 people who leave you a comment in a LinkedIn post. I've been seeing some pretty well-known marketing gurus doing that lately. They'll send you a free resource of some kind if you leave them a comment (more comments helps them get shown in people's LinkedIn feeds). You could do the same with Facebook and Twitter.

I love your question because, of course, it helps me come up with ideas for my own product ;-)

Would love to hear how it goes and works for you.

        Shared and retweeted :-)

One suggestion: I think it would increase response if you add a little more context/positioning to tweets and posts, specifically around who it's for.

Something like, "How to Kill It On LinkedIn For Job Seekers" (or Career Changers, or Freelancers, etc.). There are a few things people are trying to "kill it" on LI, so it'd help to clarify which of those you're specifically targeting. For example, you're not teaching how to kill it on LinkedIn for recruiters or advertisers.

Thanks Kirsten! I added more details in future posts. I've now got 83 people registered in just 6 days.
Next goal is to reduce the number of no-shows :)

    Hey Zviko,
I think you're on the right track, I'd double down on what's working.
I think facebook groups is a good place to be, people always ask about linkedin growth strategies.
