How can I promote my travel directory and make it popular?

I covered monetization in my previous article, but realized those ideas all depend on having users first. To make money with my directory, I need thousands of visitors to winery-hotels.com. So, how do I get them?

Social Media Visual Marketing

Since I'm building a travel directory where visuals matter, I've created accounts on Instagram, TikTok, and Pinterest. I warmed them up by engaging with similar content, and now I'm posting regularly to reach wine and travel enthusiasts.

Improving Domain Rating

I'm submitting my site to relevant directories with high DR to get quality backlinks and make my website more trustworthy for search engines.

SEO Optimization

I've created individual SEO-optimized pages for each winery/hotel and country. Planning a blog with wine travel articles too, possibly using SEObot to help scale content creation.

Building Communities

I'm considering a wine travel community on Reddit where I can share tips and subtly promote my project. Also thought about Discord, but not sure if wine lovers and travelers hang out there. Anyone tried building travel communities on Discord?

Additional Ideas

Other thoughts: collaborating with wine influencers, starting a newsletter, partnering with wine tour operators, and guest posting on established wine/travel blogs.

What marketing channels have worked for you? Has anyone successfully grown a travel directory before? Would love to hear your experiences!

I reviewed your profile and noticed that your business has the potential to grow even further—possibly more than double its current performance.

After a complete review and detailed research, I believe we can effectively promote and scale your business.

My name is Ali and I run an SEO company. I have worked with many clients and successfully helped improve their online visibility and business growth.

If you are interested in ranking your business at the top of Google search results, I would be happy to discuss how we can achieve this.

You're based in Bacalar, a tourist-heavy area with a scarce wine scene, so you appreciated the wine directory project. You run Adorable Sailing, a highly-rated local business, and may offer a backlink once your "Partners" page is live. You're also working on launching SocialRally, a SaaS focused on boosting visibility through playful content, and feel it aligns well with the directory's vibe.

    Love your project! 🍷
I'm based in Bacalar, Quintana Roo — right on the border with Belize, at the southern tip of the Riviera Maya.
Tons (and I mean tons) of hotels and tourists here… but good wine? That's a treasure hunt 😄
Your directory made me smile — such a beautiful concept.
I run Adorable Sailing, 5★ rated on Google — if you're ever looking for a high-quality backlink, I’ll ping you as soon as I stop procrastinating my “Partners” page 😅
Also keeping a close eye on your journey... I believe your site has the perfect universe for the SaaS I’m about to launch: SocialRally — built to boost visibility through playful content journeys.
Hope we cross paths again soon! Salud !

Thank you so much for your feedback! It would be really nice if you'd add my website to your partner page. I found it difficult to find any travel-related directories to list my project. I even think about building one =) Let me know when you'll launch SocialRally.
