You learn in everything you do good or bad. In life I've been making micro improvements each and every day. Over a long period of time these improvements are turning out to become something substantial.
Consider this if you write a page a day at the end of each year you'll have written a book. After 10 years you have 10 potential books but if you tried to write a book in a single day it would be very hard to complete. Same scenario when building a company. If I went out 14 years ago and tried to do everything in a single year I would've failed miserably.
Luckily I've learned and improved each and every day and that's now leading to what some may see as an overnight success. Starting with the initial idea and concept of building out a software tool and company in the data privacy & compliance space.
I spent years doing market research, taking notes, learning from the incumbents, and talking to clients who shared what they liked and what they didn't like. As 2023 kicked off I had a nice exit from my last startup and had a short transition period that led to me having more time and capital to invest into the company.
After interviewing over 180 candidates and spending a lot of time doing market research and learning about different ideas in which we can build the software we solidified the team and started to build in September of last year.
We picked versatile architecture systems to fix some of the bugs and issues we heard about other software products in the marketplace. In the end once the product was ready to be deployed after many micro improvements we went to figure out our ideal customer profile which happened to fall into a category that I was extremely familiar with being digital marketing agencies. Being able to talk to other owners that were just like me when I had an agency made it easier to communicate with them.
In the end the result ended up being dozens of new clients signing up and on boarded all in our first month and getting us to six-figures all at launch thanks to many micro improvements during the development process behind the scenes.
Congrats! How did you get your first 10 users?
This is part of those micro improvements strategy. I was in business for the last 13 years and started researching this business 2+ years ago. Everytime I saw a potential client I made a note and started to compile a list of potential clients and reached out to old clients and friends that were early beta clients. Our goal is to get to 7 figures in ARR by year end and continue to scale up from there.
