How did you get your first customers?
This website is horrible on mobile. Good article though. Needs improvements to Font size, readability, ordering, ads, etc
You're right!
On it, now
We're currently in the process of trying to acquire our first customers for our product. The most effective strategy for us at the moment seems to be direct outreach to people in our target audience.
It's not the most efficient strategy and definitely won't scale but at the early stage (where we have more time than money) it's giving us the best traction. Plus it has the added benefit of getting direct feedback on our product and making personal connections with our users.
What I've noticed among many online businesses, the early stage looks almost exactly the same as you described - slow but steady and getting early feedback - which is especially important
Did you think about SEO as the long-term plan?
I've started it waaaay to late, but I already experience more and more clicks every month
Yeah, definitely thinking about SEO, as well. We've are trying to build up a good set of content on our blog to help improve our ranking with certain keywords as well as trying to find ways to get high quality backlinks to improve our domain authority.
It's all a very slow process though. Definitely one of those things you need to start 12 months before you ever thought you'd need to, haha.
I feel you. And though it might seem for the first 6 months like a waste of time. I've witnessed time and time again, that these people who don't give up on SEO develop a big, passive income stream.
My friend positioned his website well enough to get to the second spot in the very specific niche, ranging from 200k-500k visitors per month.
It translates to him having a $150k+/mo. But these are his results from January. I guess he might be more into $200k/mo right now
you know what, the content is super amazing, that what I searching for, the struggle of the founder in the early day are super real, everyone who's wanna to start should know about it
Thank you for creating this Michal, I have share it to my group too, it's amazing
I'm glad you like it!
More than 250 hours of work were put into this!
And I really appreciate you sharing it!
Good to see it here. I'm following this newsletter https://read.first1000.co/ I highly recommend it. From @ATA btw
This is a great post - huge thanks for sharing.
I love the breakdown of examples given a specific action.
Glad you like it!
Pretty nice post. I just think you should highlight the examples from Dropbox/Airbnb/etc above the fold. You start with some generic principles and then go into specific examples. If I were you I'd do the reverse :)
Do you mean moving the "Marketing strategies to acquire your first 1,000 customers" section to below the "solve a big enough problem" part?
That might actually work
Leave a comment with your website and describe how did you get your first customers
I'll write an alternative way to get new customers and more
