How did get you started?

I've always wanted to start a web product but managed to find an excuse for not doing so.

I tried last year to work on my product after my regular 9-6 work, but I was too tired.

Today I finally started (didn't do much of course just a notion document where I started capturing ideas/requirements etc.) But I officially started

This is my plan:

  • Wake up super early (4-5 am)
  • Work 2 - 4 hrs
  • Exercise (20 mins)
  • Go to my 9-6 work
  • Relax and try to go to bed as early as possible

How did you IH'ers started your side project / product / app specially if you had a 9-6 work.

Any hints / ideas are welcome.

I deliberately set aside 2-3 nights a week and make myself go and start on something, regardless of how big or small that might be. I always find the hardest part is the first 5 minutes but once I've managed to pass that mark then keeping motivated is much easier.

I also found breaking tasks down into really small achievable items (< 2 hours - something you can achieve in a night) worked really well for motivation. It's easier to keep plugging away at something if you can see things getting checked off and feel like you've accomplished something.
