How did I do in my first month of my AI tool

Hi community!

I am glad to write for the first time here. I am a recurring reader and now I want to share my experience launching my first AI product with you, in case anyone might find it useful.

I have a marketing agency, and found a big problem: I didn't have time nor resources to write blog content for my clients. They didn’t have time either to give me ideas for content creation, and I was a little stuck, because the content creation process was too long 😩

And then, I discovered AI. But AI is only useful when you know how to use it. If you tell AI to “write an article about X topic”, it can create a good article, but for sure it is not a great article, it is not SEO-driven, it is not original, and it lacks many other things.

You have to train AI and learn how to get the best results. That is what I have been doing the last few months, to get the best results for my clients, and then, I decided that it was a great idea to launch a product for that.

I created Post BrAIner (https://postbrainer.com), a tool in which you can search ideas for new content, generate posts from a topic and structure, and publish this content directly into their blogs, so they can save too much time ⌛ and money 💰 in this content creation process.

I launched this product just one month ago, and now I want to share the results with you.

My marketing actions during this first month have been sharing my tool in all the platforms I could imagine: Reddit, Facebook groups, Twitter, AI platforms, Hacker News, and of course, Product Hunt.

This last platform was the key difference in my results. Not because of the people who watched this in PH (I ended 20th in the ranking of the day), but for the newsletters and pages that saw my new tool and shared it with their followers.

More than 70% of the traffic from this month came from newsletters or pages where I didn´t post, but they did for me.

Around 10% of the traffic I received signed up to test the tool (I offer 10,000 free words to test the tool), but at that moment, no one subscribed to a paid plan.

One week later, I decided to share a lifetime discount for everybody that subscribed to any plan during that week. And then, I got my first customers, it was an amazing joy to see that people were paying for something I have created.

And what next?

Well, these first few weeks have been good, but now traffic has declined. That is why I need to have recurring traffic to keep gaining subscriptions and clients. I have a plan for the next month, and I want to share it with you too.

First, I evidenced that it is easier to get traffic at the beginning if you use other audiences. That is why I launched an affiliate programme (https://app.getreditus.com/marketplace/post_brainer) in which everybody that recommends the platform and refers clients will earn a recurring commission for that client.

I will also do outbound to SEO and marketing agencies sharing the product to them and communicating the advantages to save money and time in the content creation process.

And I will keep sharing content in Reddit communities, Facebook groups and my social media accounts.

What do you think about it? What other strategies would you use to promote the product?

I will read all of your answers, and next month I will write an update of how it has been to keep you posted!

Impressive launch strategy! How do you plan to sustain user engagement and retention over time?

    1. 1

My plan is to head down to marketing agencies, that may have to use the tool everyday because of work, so the retention is greater than individual business who may only use it in concrete times

        Interesting. Keep us posted

Good luck with the affiliate program! I just launched indieaffiliate.io if you're looking for more exposure. 100% free. No sign up. Just good old fashioned free.

    Thanks for sharing!

I'm currently in the launch phase as well. Sounds like you have some great traction so far.

Will keep an eye on this post/comments as I'm thinking about the same marketing strategies. Best of luck!

Very cool, congrats on launching your SaaS and having some initial success with it!!

As far as the traffic dip, where in the funnel are you losing people? Acquisition / conversion/engagement?

In any of those cases it might help to find out why the dip - maybe emailing a subset of customers to ask them questions (for engagement/subscription churn) or analyzing inbound traffic with ahrefs/semrush to see what has changed (for acquisition).

Hey Javi, looks like you are off to a good start with this tool. I can definitely feel the pain point you mentioned at the start of the post, the AI needs a lot of guidance to figure out what the user is trying to do.

Anyway, I'd love to feature Post Brainer for something I'm working on. If you're interested let me know and let's chat!
