Hi, I'm Ugur, the founder of NotionPlus.
I'm a disciplined person and this is the proof. :) When I set a goal in my mind, I work regularly to realize it. Of course, I didn't reach this mindset in a day.
Instead of working every day on a specific day to reach a goal, I was working like crazy until I reached that goal. Naturally, this exhausted me both physically and mentally.
After reading the book Atomic Habits by James Clear, I realized that it can be done with very small actions. Based on the Butterfly Effect, compound interest, and a lot of other information, I realized that I could turn small actions into huge things and I applied it.
How did you do it?
I put ProductHunt everywhere I could quickly access it. I installed the Google Chrome extension, so I saw ProductHunt in every new tab.
I downloaded the mobile app and turned on notifications. I moved the app within my thumb's reach.
I created a routine, and the first thing I did every day when I got on the computer was to look at ProductHunt. And one of the last things I did before going to bed every day was to look at ProductHunt. I couldn't break the routine, so I minimized the risk.
What were the things that were difficult for you?
Sometimes there were days when I forgot. The thing that saved my life was ProductHunt's notifications. :) It was telling me that I didn't streak today.
I had a hard time traveling. In the last year, I rode my bike 120 km. I went to the sea. Of course, it was hard to look at my phone during this process. I had a hard time in similar scenarios, I would come home and forget.
Did That Do Any Extra Good?
I would say partly yes.
My ProductHunt follower list started to increase. But even though my follower list increased, I could not get a high upvote from a product I published unannounced. So only the number of followers increased.
Since I made a funnel on ProductHunt, some people saw it and bought the products. It is a very small rate. Of course, this does not mean that it never happened.
I got offers from some places. There is a group on Linkedin called those who made the top 100 in the streak on ProductHunt. I joined but I am not active :)
What's next?
I don't know. What do you think? :)
Impressive dedication and strategy! Your consistency and adaptability are truly inspiring.
I was wondering myself if it was useful to take the time to build a following on ProductHunt. Doesn't sound like it makes much of a difference.
Any thoughts?
Followers used to be very useful in ProductHunt. But now it's nothing but reputation. I tested it. Nobody upvoted.
Got it, thanks for sharing
I clicked on the link and realized I'm already subscribed to you)
I have 2 questions:
'Since I made a funnel on ProductHunt' — what do you mean when you say 'funnel on ProductHunt'?
What was your goal to be steak on PH? What are you expected to get?
I want to start with question 2. I didn't have a goal for Streak at first. Now I do and it is complete. I use it as proof that I am a disciplined person.
I've been inactive for a while but I'll be active in the newsletter again soon.
